About 1,000 young chess players compete in the 2025 South Central Region Student Chess Tournament

On October 19, in Nha Trang ward, the Young Pioneer and Children Newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Chess Federation and the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training organized the 2025 South Central Region Open Chess Tournament for Young Pioneer and Children Newspaper Students. The tournament is a useful playground, helping students practice thinking, discipline and sportsmanship.

The tournament gathered 960 young players from kindergarten to secondary school level from Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen , Ninh Thuan, Binh Dinh, Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces. The athletes competed in rapid chess, divided into two groups: amateur and advanced, with 12 age groups of men and women.

After a day of exciting competition, the Organizing Committee awarded 374 individual and team prizes. In the advanced category, grade 6-7 age group, Nguyen Quang Truong (Khanh Hoa) won the male Gold Medal, Phan Ngoc Dieu Anh (Phu Yen) excellently won the female Gold Medal. In the grade 5 group, Tran Quoc Huy ( Ninh Thuan ) won the male Gold Medal and Nguyen Ha Vy (Khanh Hoa) won the female Gold Medal.

At the movement table, the 3rd grade group, Le Tan Khoa ( Khanh Hoa ) and Huynh Bao Nhi (Binh Dinh) won the Gold Medal; the 1st-2nd grade group, Tran Duc Minh (Lam Dong) and Vo Minh Thy (Khanh Hoa) won the Gold Medal. The team prize was awarded to Khanh Hoa Group (First place overall), Phu Yen Group (Second place overall) and Ninh Thuan Group (Third place overall).

The organizers said the movement will be maintained annually, expanding to the Central Highlands provinces, aiming for a national tournament in 2026.
