“Tunnels: Sun in the Dark” brings heroic and tragic footage of the heroic Cu Chi tunnels, realistically depicting the tense battle of wits, the tenacious fighting to hold the position, the silent sacrifices and the indomitable spirit of the Cu Chi guerrillas. This is the tragic but heroic period before the historic victory on April 30, 1975.

Inspired by real events after 1967, the film tells the story of the life and fighting of a 21-man guerrilla team led by Bay Theo at the Binh An Dong base (Cu Chi). As one of the squads holding out in the tunnels, Bay Theo's team was assigned to support Hai Thung in "protecting military medical equipment and medicine for the field hospital". But in reality, their mission was much more difficult. It was to protect a safe area for Hai Thung's strategic intelligence team to transmit important secret documents by radio waves.
Radio communications were detected and located by the US military. From here, Bay Theo, Ba Huong, Tu Dap and the guerrillas had to face increasingly fierce and sophisticated tunnel sweeps…

“Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” features actor Thai Hoa, Meritorious Artist Cao Minh and talented young film actors such as Quang Tuan, Ho Thu Anh, Diem Hang Lamoon…
Director Bui Thac Chuyen shared that he has been pursuing this project for 11 years, since making a 3D short film about Cu Chi tunnels in 2014. This is a feature film about the revolutionary war theme that was not produced from the state budget and was invested with a large budget.
The film was prepared for 12 months and completed after 12 months of filming. The film also mobilized many heavy weapons that the US used in the war in South Vietnam at that time to recreate realistically, convincingly and attractively to viewers. In addition, the work also had the participation of foreign experts from France, Thailand, the United States for the fields of music , smoke and fire effects, makeup, film editing, etc.
The film gives viewers more explanations for the meaning of the phrase "Cu Chi - Heroic Steel Land", and at the same time answers the question: "Is peace beautiful?".
