With the consent of the leadership of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), on the morning of May 18, the Foreign Affairs Editorial Board, Voice of Vietnam, in coordination with the Bao An Social Fund and the Department of Education and Training of Van Chan district, and the leaders of Thuong Bang La commune, Van Chan district, Yen Bai province, organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Da Do school, belonging to Van Tien Primary and Secondary School, Thuong Bang La commune.

This is the first brick in the project "Youth and the Future" in cooperation between VOV and Bao An Social Fund, contributing to helping children in the highlands go to school and build a brighter future for them.

Da Do area, Thuong Bang La commune, is home to 18 ethnic groups, with nearly 9,000 people. The classrooms of Da Do school were built in the 1990s, and are the study place for about 100-120 primary school-age children from villages far from the main school.

In recent years, the classrooms have seriously degraded, so the classrooms here are at risk of being unsafe. Many students near Da Do school have to go to Van Tien Primary and Secondary School, 4.5 km away. The road to the main school is small, narrow, and dangerously steep. Most of the students' families are farmers, have low incomes, and have to take their children to school far away every day, facing many difficulties.

The new school will be built with 5 classrooms, 1 IT room, 1 teacher's lounge, 1 toilet, 1 garage, 1 concrete playground for students of about 500m2 and an outdoor green library.

The total construction cost is about 1 billion VND, mobilized by Bao An Social Fund. It is expected that in August 2025, Da Do school will be completed and put into operation in time for the new school year 2025 - 2026.

Students often have to cycle from home to school, a 3-7 km journey on steep and narrow mountain roads, which is very dangerous during the rainy season. When the school is degraded, students have to cycle about 5 km more to reach the central school.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Thu - Deputy Head of the External Affairs Department, Voice of Vietnam , stated: "Charity activities are an important field that Voice of Vietnam and the External Affairs Department have always paid attention to and implemented for many years. The construction of Da Do school in Thuong Bang La commune, Van Chan district, Yen Bai province is also one of the programs that the External Affairs Department is passionate about, with the desire to bring better teaching and learning conditions to children in the highlands."

The cooperation in building a new school in the area heavily affected by Typhoon Yagi (2024) with a value of about 1 billion VND is the proposal and commitment that Bao An Social Fund made in the program "Resilient Vietnam" organized by VTC Digital Television Station under the Voice of Vietnam Radio Station last September, which has now been realized.

Building enough good quality classrooms, providing an effective learning environment, suitable educational facilities and creating adequate learning conditions for students is what Bao An Social Fund is passionate about, as Mr. Le Hong Chuong, Head of the Fund's Economic and Foreign Affairs Department, affirmed:

"When we went there and witnessed the hardships and difficulties of teachers and students in the highlands, we wanted to do more so that there would be more green, clean, beautiful and safe schools across the country. We also hope that VOV5 will accompany us so that students in remote areas like Da Do school will have favorable conditions to study well and safely."

Ms. Vu Van Hanh, Head of Da village, Thuong Bang La commune (Van Chan, Yen Bai) shared: "I and the people of Da village are very excited. The children here have to go to school far away. They are still young, the village roads often encounter floods, making travel difficult. Now that this new school has been built, the children do not have to go far anymore."

Representing the parents in the commune, Ms. Hoang Thi Lanh excitedly shared: "I am very happy that the children will soon have a new school. The old school has been degraded a lot, and is no longer in good condition for the children to study safely. Every time there is a storm, we are very worried about the children because the walls in the classrooms are cracked and the roofing sheets are about to rot.

Therefore, we are very excited and grateful for the attention of the units that have cared about our children, so that our children have a better learning environment."

In the joy of waiting for a new school, the teachers of the school prepared themselves many days in advance for the warm and emotional groundbreaking ceremony. Teacher Do Thi Lan Huong, a teacher of the school, expressed her feelings: "I have been working here since 1992, when this school was just a simple thatched house. Over time, the old school has been rebuilt but now it has seriously degraded, the roof is leaking and the walls are peeling.

Sometimes when it rains, the yard and classroom are flooded. With the attention of the units, we will soon have a new school, which is a great happiness for us teachers and students."

Da Do school in Van Chan, Yen Bai is expected to be the first in an educational incubation program titled “Youth and the Future” that Bao An Social Fund wishes to implement long-term with Voice of Vietnam, to gather kind hearts to build a brighter future for poor children in difficult circumstances in localities across the country.
