The Vinh Long - Tra Vinh Traditional Resistance Monument project has a total investment of over 8 billion VND. The project is built on an area of 1,143m2 including the following items: construction of the Traditional Monument; relocation of the Cay Diep Front Monument to a new location; gate, fence; renovation of the yard, drainage system and leveling the ground. The project is expected to be completed in December 2023.
This is a project of great significance to the two provinces of Vinh Long and Tra Vinh. The completion of the monument cluster and revolutionary base will mark the achievements of the two provinces, and will be a “red address” to educate patriotism for young people and future generations who have the responsibility to preserve and promote the fine traditions of their ancestors.
Comrade Nguyen Van Liet, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, gave the order to start the project.
It is known that the land bordering the two provinces of Vinh Long and Tra Vinh includes 4 districts: Vung Liem, Tra On, Cang Long, Cau Ke. Before 1975, Hieu Thanh commune (Vung Liem) bordered Hoa Binh, Huu Thanh (Tra On), Thanh Phu (Cau Ke), An Truong, Tan An (Cang Long) communes.
During the 30 years of resistance against imperialism and colonialism (1945 - 1975), this was a revolutionary base that sheltered and protected cadres and main troops of Zone 8, Zone 9, the Special Zone Committee and branches of the Saigon - Cho Lon Special Zone. The main troops, local troops, people's police, militia, guerrillas and people... fought bravely and steadfastly, contributing to the glorious victory of Vinh Long - Tra Vinh province, liberating the South, unifying the country, and being awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces".
