The investor of Component Project 3, Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), is completing procedures to start construction of the project's second runway.
Minister Tran Hong Minh also said that currently, runway No. 1 has completed the electrical and lighting items, ready for calibration flights, shortening the progress by 3 months compared to the plan. According to the progress, the construction of runway No. 2 is expected to take place in 12 months, thus ensuring synchronous exploitation with runway No. 1 in the first half of 2026.
Previously, on March 29, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 692/QD-TTg approving the adjustment of the Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1. In particular, adjusting and supplementing Clause 5, Article 1 of Decision No. 1777/QD-TTg on the content and scale of investment in construction of Phase 1. Specifically, for the airport infrastructure, 2 runways will be built with a length of 4,000m, a width of 75m and a system of taxiways and parking lots to ensure the operation of all types of aircraft with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year and 1.2 million tons of cargo/year.
