To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, for the first time, Vietnam organized a parade at sea with the participation of the following forces: Navy, Coast Guard, Fisheries Surveillance, Navy Air Force... In that formation, ship KN 290 of Fisheries Surveillance Squadron No. 2 was honored to be assigned to carry out this special mission.
Ship KN 290 brought 100 journalists from all over the country to visit Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 platform on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

In preparation for the sea parade mission during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (mission A80) in recent days, officers and fisheries inspectors of ship KN 290 have made efforts to complete all preparations, such as painting and repairing the ship, maintaining the engine, checking specialized equipment..., to ensure that every detail meets technical and aesthetic standards.
In addition, logistics, medical and maritime safety work is also carried out seriously, meeting the conditions of long journeys and being ready to respond to any arising situations.
Along with technical work, training and practice of the mobile formation in coordination with the forces at sea were carried out seriously. Each position and each movement were thoroughly practiced to ensure accuracy, synchronization, smooth coordination and unity between the forces in the parade formation.

The KN 290 was launched in 2014 and was one of the most modern ships in Vietnam at that time. The ship has a capacity of 200 people, a length of 90.5 m, a width of 14 m, a displacement of 2,400 tons, a maximum speed of 21 knots (equivalent to 39 km/h) and a range of 5,000 nautical miles.
The ship has a fully automatic control system from the cockpit, with a camera system to monitor the surrounding areas and parts on the ship. In addition, the ship also has a parking lot and hangar for helicopters, high-speed lifeboats, etc.
Ship KN 290 has the mission of patrolling, inspecting, controlling, enforcing laws at sea, fighting to protect sovereignty over seas and islands, supporting fishermen to go offshore, performing search and rescue work and performing other civil tasks.

In particular, ship KN 290 was assigned to carry delegations to visit and inspect islands in the Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 platform.
Up to now, the ship has welcomed and transported thousands of delegates, transported hundreds of tons of goods to support officers, soldiers and people on the islands, platforms, and on-duty ships, along with countless sentiments from the whole country's rear sent through the ship to the islands and platforms.
