This afternoon, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, chaired the conference to hand over the position of Commander of the Border Guard (BĐBP).

The Prime Minister has decided to appoint Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai (recently promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General by the President), Commander of the Border Guard, to the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense and to appoint Major General Vu Trung Kien (recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General by the President), Deputy Commander of the Law of the Vietnam Coast Guard, to the position of Commander of the Border Guard.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang congratulated Senior Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai and Lieutenant General Vu Trung Kien.

The appointment of Senior Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai as Deputy Minister of National Defense and Lieutenant General Vu Trung Kien as Commander of the Border Guard demonstrates the trust of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense in the two generals and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Border Guard Command, and the Vietnam Coast Guard.

In order for the Border Guard force to successfully complete its military and defense tasks, General Phan Van Giang requested Lieutenant General Vu Trung Kien, in his new position, to continue to inherit and promote the results and achievements that the Border Guard force has achieved in the past time, and immediately start performing the tasks.

The Border Guard force has promoted its core and specialized role in building a solid people's border defense and border defense posture, the key being a "people's hearts posture" in the border area.
