There are sorrows and joys, tears and smiles, happiness and suffering, written from the heart, recurring throughout the pages about father and daughter. These are moments when father and daughter can be honest with each other, unafraid to share mistakes and readily forgive each other...

Journalist Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, shared his thoughts at the event.

On the morning of March 27th, the Vietnam Family Magazine held the launching ceremony for the second "Father and Daughter" writing contest in 2024 in Hanoi . The event serves as a bridge to bring together writings and stories full of humanity and beauty about the father-daughter relationship, touching the most wonderful and sacred emotions of each individual.

The competition aims to promote the implementation of Decision No. 2074/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister issued on December 10, 2021, which addresses the Plan for implementing Directive No. 06-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership over family building in the new situation, and Decision No. 2238/QD-TTg issued on December 30, 2021, approving the Strategy for the Development of Vietnamese Families until 2030.

Attending the launching ceremony, journalist Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, said: Writing competitions about family always demonstrate faith in life and appreciation for loved ones. With creativity in expression and publishing platforms, good stories on this theme will spread even further.

Journalist Le Quoc Minh also shared that he has a daughter. For 10 years, he took her to piano lessons, cared for her from infancy until she grew up, went abroad to study, and became independent, and he never found it difficult. He affirmed that the bond between a father and daughter is very special.

Perhaps it is precisely because of these deeply sacred emotions that, from its very first launch in 2023, the "Father and Daughter" writing contest attracted over 800 entries in just two months. Many of these entries touched upon the most precious emotions of the Vietnamese people: the warmth, protection, and compassion of a father; and the filial piety and boundless love of a daughter.

Building on those successes, the second "Father and Daughter" writing contest was officially launched on March 27th. Entries can be submitted in various forms: heartfelt letters from a father to his daughter, or from a daughter to her father; essays recounting joyful and sad memories between father and daughter; or a father-daughter diary recounting unforgettable memories…

Journalist Ho Minh Chien, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine and Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, said that this activity will awaken and inspire positive feelings, creating strong bonds within families.

"The competition is a forum for fathers to express their love for their children and for children to express their feelings, emotions, and gratitude towards their parents. Through this, we promote the beautiful traditional values of family love, aiming for a better, more useful, and meaningful life; inspiring positive change and creating strong bonds within the family," added journalist Ho Minh Chien, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine and Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition.

Rules for participating in the "Father and Daughter" contest.

The competition is open to all Vietnamese citizens residing both in Vietnam and abroad. Each author may submit a maximum of 3 entries. Entries should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words, written in Vietnamese, and must be original works that have not been published or broadcast on any newspaper, radio station, or social media platform, nor have they been submitted to any other writing competitions.

Contest participants are solely responsible for the copyright and authenticity of their entries; copying in any form is prohibited. The Organizing Committee encourages participants to submit images depicting real-life stories deeply rooted in their personal experiences.

Entries will be accepted from March 27th to June 10th via email at chavacongai.gdvn@gmail.com or sent directly to the Editorial Office of Vietnam Family Magazine (address: 2 Le Duc Tho Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi).

The awards ceremony for the 2nd "Father and Daughter" writing contest is scheduled to take place on Vietnam Family Day, June 28th.
