On the afternoon of January 13, regarding the case of a driver hitting a traffic police officer on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway, Binh Thuan Provincial Police announced that the Tuy Phong District Police Investigation Agency had issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Nguyen Van Tri (37 years old, residing in Nam Dinh ).
Nguyen Van Tri is the suspect who drove the truck and fled when the traffic police stopped the vehicle for inspection and crashed into the traffic police. Tri was prosecuted for "resisting a person on duty" under Clause 1, Article 330 of the Penal Code. The decision to prosecute was approved by the People's Procuracy at the same level.
Police are investigating the scene of the incident.
As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, at around 9:00 a.m. on January 12, a patrol team of the Traffic Police of Binh Thuan Province Police was on duty to inspect vehicles at km 1599 of National Highway 1 through Tuy Phong District. The working group stopped the truck 18H - 002.13 and driver Tri got out of the car and was informed by the Traffic Police about the thematic inspection plan.
However, Tri did not comply, did not present the vehicle documents and drove away. After chasing for about 4km on National Highway 1, Tri drove the truck onto the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway, so the Binh Thuan Provincial Traffic Police contacted the Traffic Police of the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6, under the Traffic Police Department (C08, in charge of the expressway) to request assistance in stopping the vehicle.
The traffic police arranged vehicles to block the entrance to the highway and signaled the truck to stop. However, Tri continued to drive the truck through the remaining gap at the entrance and drove straight into the traffic police who were signaling. Fortunately, the traffic police officers were able to avoid the accident so it did not happen.
The truck continued to flee when entering the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway and the traffic police had to use 2 specialized vehicles to chase it. After about 20km of chasing, at km 162 of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway in Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan, the traffic police stopped the truck. However, driver Tri stopped the truck in the middle of the road, causing congestion on the highway. After the incident, Bac Binh district police took the truck and driver to the headquarters for handling. The results of alcohol and drug tests on driver Tri at Bac Binh district police showed no signs of violations.
Currently, the case of the driver hitting the traffic police on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway is being investigated and clarified by Tuy Phong District Police.
