That was one of the requests of Comrade Bui Thanh Son, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of the National Steering Committee for Combating Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (Steering Committee 389) at the national online conference to review the work of the first quarter of 2025 and the direction and tasks for the coming time of the National Steering Committee 389, which took place on the afternoon of April 21 in Hanoi. In the first quarter, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods became complicated at many border routes, sea areas, airports and inland areas. Subjects continued to take advantage of e-commerce, express delivery, and open import-export procedures to mix prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, and goods of unknown origin into the domestic market.

Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee 389, ministries, branches and localities have taken drastic measures, arresting and handling 30,651 violations. Of which, the authorities discovered and arrested 6,754 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods, up 74.51%; 22,774 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud, down 11.06%; 1,113 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations, down 20.90%. The total amount of money collected for the state budget was more than VND 4,616.7 billion, up 59.45%; 1,328 criminal cases were prosecuted, an increase of 18.36% over the same period in 2024. With outstanding achievements, many collectives and individuals were commended and rewarded by the National Steering Committee 389, motivating the frontline forces to be more determined in the fight against smuggling and trade fraud in 2025.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 acknowledged and commended ministries, branches and localities for basically completing their assigned tasks; highly appreciated the opinions and solutions to improve the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. He emphasized: The smuggling situation is still complicated, the tricks are increasingly sophisticated and aggressive. Ministries, branches and localities need to be resolute, uncompromising, proactively follow the locality, not leaving loopholes for criminals to take advantage of. At the same time, urgently complete the membership of the National Steering Committee 389 and of ministries, branches and localities after restructuring the apparatus. In addition to synchronously implementing 5 groups of tasks in the second quarter of 2025, it is necessary to step up the fight, maintain market stability, create a healthy production and business environment, and promote high economic growth in 2025.
