In a solemn atmosphere, the Khanh Hoa Agarwood Association in collaboration with the Provincial Museum officially opened the exhibition "Khanh Hoa Agarwood Cultural Heritage Space". The event was attended by Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of departments, branches and many agarwood workers, marking a new step forward in preserving and promoting the value of this rare forest product.
The agarwood diggers are looking for agarwood.
Khanh Hoa has long been known as the "Land of Agarwood", the birthplace of the most precious agarwood and ky nam blocks. The journey to get agarwood is a long story, soaked in sweat, experience and danger of the "dieu ca" or "acron collectors". Agarwood is not the wood of the Do Bau tree, but the wood containing a large amount of aromatic resin secreted by the tree to fight against damage and disease. Finding natural agarwood requires long trips into the deep forests and mountains, facing countless difficulties and challenges. Agarwood collectors must rely on the experience passed down from their ancestors, their acumen and luck to find Do Bau trees with agarwood. It is this hardship and rarity that creates the special value of natural agarwood.
Nowadays, when natural agarwood is increasingly scarce, the cultural, historical values and skills of the traditional agarwood hunting profession are increasingly appreciated. "Khanh Hoa Agarwood Cultural Heritage Space" was born to honor that journey and the products crystallized from it.

Exhibition space.
Located in the Provincial Museum (No. 16 Tran Phu, Nha Trang City), the exhibition space is arranged into 5 booths, introducing a variety of typical products: from sophisticated handicrafts, unique agarwood landscapes, pure agarwood incense, to health care products from agarwood essential oil and even drinks soaked with agarwood. Each product shows the meticulousness, ingenuity and dedication of Khanh Hoa artisans.
This space is not only for displaying and selling products but also a place for the community of agarwood craftsmen to meet, exchange, share experiences, and learn skills. At the same time, this is also a trusted address for people and tourists to visit, learn and own quality agarwood products, ensuring origin. The space is expected to be open until June 9, coinciding with the time of the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2025.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Thieu and delegates of the Khanh Hoa Province Agarwood Association offered incense at Ponagar Tower.
Before the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Thieu and delegates of the Provincial Agarwood Association respectfully offered incense at Am Chua (Dien Dien commune, Dien Khanh district) and then at the special national relic of Ponagar Tower (Nha Trang city) on the occasion of the agarwood industry's death anniversary (2nd-3rd lunar month). According to tradition, agarwood craftsmen in Khanh Hoa honor Thien YA Na Thanh Mau as the founder of the profession, and the anniversary is an important occasion to commemorate the merits and strengthen solidarity in the profession.
This event is even more meaningful when taking place in the context of Khanh Hoa province's efforts to build a dossier to request the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognize "Folk knowledge - traditional craft of Khanh Hoa agarwood" as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. This has been approved by the Provincial People's Committee since January 2025, assigned to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over the implementation.
The launch of "Khanh Hoa Agarwood Cultural Heritage Space" and efforts to build a national heritage profile are concrete steps, affirming the determination of Khanh Hoa province in preserving, promoting and enhancing the unique value of the agarwood profession, worthy of the title "Agarwood Land".
