According to Thanh Nien reporters, the celebration of Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20 this year in Thua Thien - Hue was "different" when many schools did not hold a ceremony. Because after a long flood (November 14-16), teachers in many places were busy cleaning up the flood to welcome students back to school.

In the low-lying communes of Quang Dien district, instead of being happy about November 20, teachers and military forces are busy cleaning up mud. A teacher at Quang Tho Kindergarten 2 said that like every year, after the flood receded, the teachers put aside their personal matters and quickly went to the school to clean up with the spirit of cleaning up as the flood receded.

At Thuy Van Primary School (Hue City), where the floodwaters once rose nearly 1 meter high, the mud has now accumulated quite thickly. Teachers have been busy cleaning up for many days to complete the work before November 20.

Talk to   Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Nguyen Tan, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province, said that due to the impact of floods, students have had to stay home from school for a long time, so in recent days, teachers at schools have been focusing on overcoming the consequences and cleaning classrooms to welcome students back to school in time.

“This afternoon, November 20, after school, some schools only organized small, warm activities,” said Mr. Tan.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province sent a document to departments, branches, local People's Committees and schools about not organizing ceremonies, not accepting flowers and gifts to share difficulties with people who have just experienced floods.

The leaders ofthe education sector in Thua Thien - Hue province said that most leaders of schools, educational institutions and teachers in the province agreed with this policy and were happy to focus on overcoming the consequences of floods.
