After nearly 13 years of operation since July 2012, the Trade Union of Phong Phu Quang Tri Export Garment Factory, located in Hai Lang district, has increasingly promoted its role as a "bridge", creating trust for union members and workers.

Not only actively mobilizing the company's leaders to create a safe working environment, the Trade Union also actively participates in contributing to amending and developing policies and laws related to the rights and interests of union members and employees; proactively monitoring and ensuring that the enterprise fully implements all policies and regimes for union members. Periodically, the Trade Union also organizes dialogues to promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of employees, contributing to creating a harmonious and developing working environment.

Sharing with reporters, Chairman of the Trade Union of Phong Phu Quang Tri Export Garment Factory Le Nguyen Y said: “Thanks to the support of superiors, the trade union activities at the unit have become increasingly in-depth, becoming a reliable support for union members and workers. Over the years, the factory's trade union has constantly innovated its working methods, improving quality and efficiency. Therefore, the number of workers joining the trade union has increased, reaching 683 union members to date, accounting for 91.5% of the total number of workers in the factory.”

Considering the protection of workers' legitimate rights and interests as a top priority, over the years, the Trade Union of Chaichareon Viet - Thai Company Limited, located in Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa district, has always proactively implemented many practical activities to improve the lives of union members and workers.

To help union members feel secure in their work, the company has arranged free housing for 60 workers, supported with 3 meals/day, gasoline, 13th month salary, Tet bonus; supported tuition for workers' children up to grade 12 with a level of 2 - 5 million VND/school year. The company also focuses on public service activities, sponsorship, and contributing to promoting trade in the locality and provinces in the country. Chairman of the Union of Chaichareon Viet - Thai Company Limited Tran Tan Huy affirmed: "The company is very interested and has many preferential policies for workers. Therefore, workers have been attached for a long time, consider the company as their home and strive to contribute to their work. Thanks to that, the unit has maintained stability in labor relations, without any complaints or disputes in recent years."

Quang Tri province currently has about 300 enterprise trade unions with over 13,600 union members. Under the guidance, direction and active support of the Provincial Federation of Labor and higher-level trade unions, non-state enterprise trade unions are increasingly becoming more practical, with innovations in content and methods of operation. Thereby, promoting the role of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers at the grassroots level.

The existence of trade union organizations in the non-state enterprise sector helps improve the rights and quality of life of workers; contributes to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises and economic organizations not owned by the State. However, besides what has been done, there are still some enterprises that only focus on production, business and profit, pay little attention to union development work, and there are trade union officials but their role has not been promoted...

In the coming time, the Provincial Federation of Labor will direct the grassroots trade unions of non-state enterprises to continue to innovate the content and methods and improve the quality of their activities with the motto of focusing on the grassroots; attracting workers to join the trade union organization and participate in trade union activities. Strive to fulfill the task of protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers; build a dialogue mechanism between the grassroots trade union and employers; effectively carry out the negotiation and signing of Collective Labor Agreements.

Coordinate well in organizing workers' conferences and implementing democratic regulations at the workplace; focus on policies for female workers; participate in developing and promulgating internal rules and regulations at the enterprise. Propagate, provide legal advice and legal support to workers, supervise the implementation of policies related to workers and resolve labor disputes at the grassroots level... contributing to building a strong trade union system, becoming a place to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation Nguyen Tai Minh emphasized that close coordination between trade unions, enterprises and state management agencies will be the key to building a harmonious and sustainable working environment.

“Improving the quality of trade union activities in the non-state enterprise sector is one of the necessary and important requirements. The Provincial Federation of Labor has proposed strong innovative solutions so that trade unions at enterprises can better perform their tasks of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, contributing to gradually building an increasingly strong trade union organization,” said Mr. Minh.
