On the dashboard of most current car models, there are two air vents located at both ends, however, not everyone who uses a car understands the function of this part to use it, even many car owners mistakenly think it is the air vent of the air conditioning system.

Each car is equipped by the manufacturer with hundreds of details to support the user in some special cases. However, not reading the user manual carefully as well as not exploring the equipment on the car, many drivers often forget the function of the details that are designed by the manufacturer to be used when necessary. One of them is the air vents on the dashboard, usually arranged in two corners near the A-pillar.

Not only "new drivers", even long-time car users, when asked, all think that the air vents on the dashboard are air vents of the air conditioning system. Because these air vents also have air direction flaps like the air conditioning vents. However, when turning on the air conditioning system, increasing the fan speed... there is no cold air coming out from the two air vents on the dashboard.

According to auto repair technicians, the two air vents on the car dashboard have the function of ventilating and drying the side windows to ensure that the windows do not fog up, thereby helping the driver to easily observe the side mirrors.

Although the design is quite similar and can easily be mistaken for an air conditioner vent, if you look closely you will notice that the two air vents on the dashboard, near the A-pillar, are fixed in design, the air vents direct the air to the two windows (driver's side, front passenger) and the angle of the air vents cannot be adjusted like the air conditioner vents.

When driving in cold weather, high humidity or when it rains... the temperature difference between inside and outside the car causes the front windshield (driver's glass) and side windows (driver's side, front passenger) to often fog up due to condensation.

Press the FRONT window defroster button (usually marked with a fan-shaped symbol with curved arrows pointing upwards) and the window defroster system is activated.

At this time, if the driver presses the FRONT window defroster button (usually marked with a fan-shaped symbol with curved arrows pointing upwards), the window defroster system is activated. Through the air vents, outside air is brought into the cabin to adjust the temperature of the glass, helping the windshield and side windows to no longer be foggy. Thanks to that, the driver can easily observe the front as well as the side mirrors.
