20 presentations by cultural managers, experts, and university lecturers at this scientific conference contributed to clarifying the heritage value of Phu Yen land, the "core" of which is Quang Duc pottery village. From specialized approaches and expert methods, delegates exchanged and contributed ideas to bring about an interdisciplinary perspective and approach to the value, characteristics, and role of Quang Duc pottery. From there, raising the general awareness of the position of the unique Quang Duc pottery line in the flows and traditions of ancient Vietnamese pottery.

In about 3 centuries (17th - 18th - 19th and early 20th century), from a local ceramic line, Quang Duc ( Phu Yen ) rose to become a large ceramic line, with much influence in the Central region, Truong Son - Tay Nguyen region and the country.

First of all, it is a ceramic line that was formed early in the Central region, associated with the development process of Phu Yen and the Southern region. Quang Duc ceramics maintained its activities for a long time, from the 17th century to the early 20th century, in which the period of prosperous development was the 18th - 19th century. These factors show the historical value and strong vitality of a ceramic line.

In addition, Quang Duc pottery is diverse in product types: jars, pots, vases, jars, pots, jars, etc., serving many needs of life; production activities; construction, architecture; aesthetics, art... Quang Duc pottery is diverse in style, manufacturing techniques on the same ceramic product and between types of ceramic products. Quang Duc pottery also has unglazed pottery, glazed pottery (with monochromatic glaze, with multi-color glaze...). Therefore, the cultural value and cultural diversity of Quang Duc pottery is very typical.

Quang Duc pottery is produced locally, using local materials and fuels, clearly demonstrating the practical experiences, accumulated experience and knowledge, and creative capacity of local residents. The owners of Quang Duc pottery have a deep understanding and promoted the advantages of natural conditions, land, mountains, forests, rivers and seas to develop the pottery profession.

Another characteristic is that Quang Duc pottery is not only used and consumed in Phu Yen but also exported to many domestic markets, produced according to orders (custom-made) and most likely also exported to regional and world markets. Thus, Quang Duc pottery, along with other handicraft and fine art products, has brought a source of livelihood, economic potential, and practical strength to the residents of Phu Yen and the Central region.

On the other hand, Quang Duc ceramics not only have popular, household products, serving daily life, the general market, but many products of the Quang Duc kilns also participate in, serve spiritual life, are architectural materials in pagodas, temples. In particular, many Quang Duc ceramic products are unique works of art, achieving high artistic and aesthetic value, with lasting value.

The owner/creator of this unique ceramic line is certainly the Vietnamese community in Dang Trong. In the essence and criteria for identifying the brand value of Quang Duc ceramic line, there is both the knowledge and ceramic crafting techniques of the Cham people and it seems to inherit the product exchange and trade system of the ancient Champa Kingdom.

What makes the typical characteristic, which can be considered the pinnacle of style and character of Quang Duc pottery is the way of using shells (and fresh shells) exploited from O Loan lagoon to fire the pottery. The essence of the soil, the flavor of the sea, the vitality of fire together with human skills and knowledge have created the quintessence of a pottery line. It can be said that each Quang Duc pottery product is a unique copy and more than that, a unique work of art.

At the above-mentioned workshop, scientists and researchers proposed many practical and feasible solutions to preserve and promote the value of Quang Duc ceramics. Among them, the following are the key points to note:

Preserving Quang Duc pottery must be placed in the overall space of Cai River, O Loan lagoon and inter-regional relationships to see the connection value of the key factors that create the pottery profession. Along with that, Quang Duc pottery village must be placed in a close relationship with Hoi Phu - An Tho ancient citadel, areas providing raw materials, fuel, production, exchange, trade, with traditional handicraft villages such as silk weaving village, Ngan Son village, mat weaving village, basket making village... to see the whole picture of social activities, historical factors, culture, economic life of Quang Duc, Phu Yen in the past and present.

Phu Yen should have a plan to preserve at the highest level the space, historical landscape, culture of Quang Duc pottery village, the original values that are still preserved such as pottery kilns, raw material and waste storage areas, boat docks, ancient landmarks, etc. These are indispensable factors to move towards building a "Quang Duc Ceramic Ecological Museum", organizing tourism activities to experience the craft village according to destinations, road and river routes, creating economic - cultural value chains.

In addition to state resources, it is necessary to take advantage of and mobilize social resources, promote public-private cooperation, especially strategic investors with a mindset of preserving, promoting and creating culture. Along with that is promoting the cultural rights and cultural role of the community. According to the new spirit of UNESCO, it is not only the community of residents living in or near the heritage site but a cultural community. They are the ones with the most rights, responsibilities and capacity in preserving, practicing, transmitting, spreading and creating culture. Along with the community of residents is the scientific community (clarifying values, providing professional advice); the management community (especially cultural managers) promulgating and implementing policies, creating mechanisms; the business community (including tourism businesses, heritage businesses, cultural conservation, etc.); tourist community (including many subjects, cultural tourism, high-quality tourism, including many researchers, lovers of Vietnamese and world ceramics...).

The province should also soon organize a Scientific Council consisting of prestigious experts to assess the value of Quang Duc pottery. If it meets all current criteria, it is possible to proceed to build a dossier of intangible cultural heritage on Quang Duc pottery production techniques. On the other hand, it is also possible to propose building a dossier of heritage in need of urgent protection, such as the case of Bau Truc pottery of the Cham people in Ninh Thuan...
