With 8 policy groups and 29 specific mechanisms, Dong Nai Trade Zone is expected to become a center of high-tech industry, financial services, logistics, innovation and international trade.

Specifically, the 257-hectare logistics area in the airport serves as an international cargo transit hub, directly connecting to the aviation infrastructure. The 1,000-hectare commercial and service area in front of the airport aims to become a space for shopping, conferences, exhibitions, and high-end accommodation.

The 3,595-hectare Xuan Que - Song Nhan Industrial Park (IP) is planned to become an innovation and information technology research area associated with a digital e-commerce model. The 2,623-hectare Bau Can - Tan Hiep IP is oriented to develop according to the green - smart - integrated IP model, using renewable energy, and advanced wastewater and waste treatment systems.

In terms of mechanism, Dong Nai Free Trade Zone is basically consistent with the policies of the free trade zones across the country being developed by the Ministry of Finance , focusing on tax incentives, simple customs procedures, "one-stop" mechanism and open regulations for investment, trade, import and export.

The formation of a commercial area associated with Long Thanh airport will maximize the advantages of the aviation gateway, combining the seaport system and highways to turn Dong Nai into a regional center of logistics, trade, and export production.

Taking advantage of the aviation "gateway"

According to Dr. Tran Du Lich, member of the National Monetary Policy Advisory Council, after the merger, Dong Nai province will have all the strategic elements: airport, seaport, border, creating a foundation for breakthroughs in logistics, trade and services and deep integration into the global supply chain.

He proposed adjusting the planning to suit new conditions, prioritizing breakthrough infrastructure projects and building an effective government apparatus. In particular, shifting from a “management” mindset to a “service” mindset, focusing on businesses and people. Improving the functions and tasks of grassroots government will be the key factor determining Dong Nai’s ability to make a breakthrough in the new period.

Architect Ngo Viet Nam Son believes that when completed, Long Thanh airport will be among the top airports in the region. The commercial center needs to be closely linked with the airport, urban areas and key infrastructure to attract international capital flows.

According to Mr. Son, Dong Nai needs to develop synchronous infrastructure connections to turn this place into a trade gateway and a "magnet" attracting capital for the entire key economic region of the South.

At a recent working session, Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc said that the province has proposed the Ministry of Finance and the Prime Minister to allow the province to pilot the establishment of a commercial zone model, and at the same time committed to completing technical and social infrastructure and related conditions so that the project can be implemented soon.

With its strategic location, large scale and superior mechanism, the commercial area associated with Long Thanh airport is expected to become a boost to help Dong Nai break through and become a new trading center of Vietnam with the world.
