A persistent and innovative flow.

The history of the Vietnamese nation is an epic written in blood and flowers, where every stage of the resistance war is marked by immortal melodies. Revolutionary music, with its miraculous power, became a sharp spiritual "weapon," uplifting the spirits of soldiers on the battlefield and strengthening the resolve of the home front. From the rhythmic steps of "Marching Song," the exuberance of "Artillery Pulling Chant," to the overwhelming joy in the song "As if Uncle Ho were present on the day of great victory," music accompanied the nation through the most difficult twists and turns to reach the day of triumph.

This year, amidst the solemn atmosphere of the historic month of April, many artists have chosen to return to the theme of homeland and country with new compositions. Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, the stream of patriotic music continues to flow silently, carried on by a generation of young, creative, and dedicated artists. They not only reinterpret old songs with new perspectives but also write their own songs for peacetime, expressing gratitude and pride.

Among them, "Vietnam's Heroic Song" by composer Anh Tú (Tú Dưa) opens a different approach. Instead of the familiar, boisterous style, the song follows a lyrical, intimate style, like a whisper between the peaceful present and the glorious past. The combination of Symphony, Cinematic, and Rock in the arrangement creates layers of sound that are both soft and powerful, sometimes serene, sometimes surging like the heartbeat of millions.

Notably, singer Anh Quân Idol's performance of this song also prioritizes emotion over technique. His vocals are delivered in a gradually escalating manner, from gentle to climactic, maintaining a balance between narrative and pride.

Another highlight is the music video "Having Uncle Ho in My Heart," a collaboration between child artist Xệ Xệ and singer Tùng Dương, along with a special appearance by composer Phạm Tuyên. Love for the homeland and reverence for President Ho Chi Minh have been naturally passed down from the "veteran" generation to contemporary artists and ultimately to the future generation. These melodies are proof that patriotism never grows old; it is simply being "refreshed" to resonate with the heartbeat of today's youth.

The Trap/Hip-hop-influenced arrangement, combined with traditional elements like the flute and zither, has created a fresh new look for this familiar song. Significantly, this youthful approach has helped bring revolutionary music closer to younger audiences, becoming a bridge between the past and the present.

Commemorating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026), the flow of music about homeland and country continues unabated. New compositions are not only expressions of gratitude but also a way for today's generation to deeply engrave national pride in the language of their time.

Touch hearts with new ways of expression.

To ensure that songs about homeland and country can deeply penetrate the minds of young audiences, artists have made bold explorations and innovations in both creative thinking and form of expression. Patriotic music today is a seamless blend of classical values and the spirit of the times.

According to musician Anh Tú, when writing about sacred themes like homeland and country, the most important thing is genuine emotion. The artist needs to cultivate national pride and a surging love for their homeland. The song "Vietnam, a Heroic Song" is the result of those intense emotions.

“As an artist who has benefited from peace and prosperous development, I compose with all the respect and deep gratitude for the generations before me. Unlike the heroic and stirring spirit of songs that accompanied the war years, my song carries the breath of the new era: gentle, profound, and full of hope. With its youthful, light melody and relatable lyrics, I hope that “Vietnam, a Heroic Song” will become a bridge connecting emotions, helping the younger generation and students to love and be proud of their homeland even more, and thus work together to build a more developed Vietnam,” composer Anh Tú shared.

Singer Tung Duong also emphasized: "Each product we create aims to convey a message about humanistic spirit, the enduring value of music, and the connection between generations to create works with many different layers of meaning. That is patriotism, and the preservation of the national spirit."

Meanwhile, Hong Tuyen, daughter of composer Pham Tuyen, believes that modernizing familiar songs is necessary in the contemporary context. With young people increasingly favoring upbeat melodies, giving old works a fresh new sound will help them continue to thrive in contemporary life, rather than simply existing in memory.

For singer Anh Quân Idol, music about his homeland stems from personal experiences. Growing up in a family with a military tradition, he carries within him stories of war and sacrifice that cannot always be expressed in words. Therefore, music has become his way of sharing, paying tribute, and connecting with the younger generation.

Therefore, Anh Quân Idol expressed: “Each generation expresses patriotism in different ways, and music is my own path. If my songs can make someone pause for a moment to think about their family, their homeland, or feel more proud and love Vietnam more, then I am extremely happy. In the future, I will certainly always preserve the values of our roots and gratitude in my musical journey, expressing them in the most intimate, genuine, and emotional way.”

From the triumphant triumphs of history to the peaceful melodies of the present, music has always held invaluable significance for the Vietnamese people. Today's young generation, with their talent and passion, continues to ignite national pride, ensuring that patriotic melodies remain an endless stream, nourishing the souls of future generations.
