Dr. Do Thi Thuy Nga, Deputy Director of Hanoi Children's Hospital, said that immediately after receiving and providing emergency care to two children injured in a series of traffic accidents in Duong Noi, Hanoi (on the evening of July 16), this medical facility responded quickly and promptly, and at the same time activated the hospital-wide red alert procedure, mobilizing maximum human resources, equipment and related specialties to carry out emergency care.
The two victims were siblings. The young patient (41 months old) was admitted to the hospital with severe multiple injuries, coma, difficulty breathing, extensive scalp lacerations and bleeding, and many scratches and bruises on the skin all over the body. Diagnosis: Multiple injuries - traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, extensive cerebral edema, right clavicle fracture, pulmonary contusion.
The older child (68 months old) was admitted to the hospital in a state of panic, with bleeding wounds on the head, many scratches and bruises on the skin all over the body. Diagnosis: Multiple trauma - traumatic brain injury, pulmonary contusion.
Upon receiving the patient, the emergency team of Hanoi Children's Hospital quickly treated the patient according to the ABC emergency procedure (ensuring airway-breathing-circulation), while also performing a quick and comprehensive review of the injuries.
Currently, the health status of the two children is still being closely monitored and controlled at the Intensive Care Unit. Vital functions are controlled with the support of vasopressors to maintain circulation and mechanical ventilation to support breathing.
The hospital mobilizes maximum resources and makes the greatest efforts to care for and treat sick children.
