People understand the policy

As the person who directly manages the facility and generates income through the ornamental plant and garden business, Mr. Nguyen Minh Thang (Phu Van village, Tay Ho commune) is required to participate in compulsory social insurance (SI). However, before that, Mr. Thang always thought that compulsory SI was only for employees with labor contracts or officials, civil servants, public employees...

When Chien Dan Social Insurance organized propaganda and came to his house to explain, Mr. Nguyen Minh Thang clearly understood the responsibility of small business owners in participating in social insurance to ensure social security.

Mr. Thang shared: "Before, I didn't care much about illness and retirement because I thought I was still young, but after analyzing, I realized that if I get old, sick or have a reduced income without a source of security, it will be very difficult to manage."

Similarly, Mr. Huynh Duc Hoang, owner of a craft wine production facility in An My village (Tay Ho commune), was quite confused because he did not know whether his small business was subject to compulsory participation or not.

Attending a media conference on social insurance policies and laws organized by Chien Dan Social Insurance in Tay Ho commune, he was clearly analyzed by the staff that, as a business owner, working regularly and generating his own main income, he was subject to compulsory social insurance.

“The social insurance officers explained each content in detail during the participation process and the benefits, so I felt secure. The procedures were not complicated, so the application was processed quickly. I just needed to download the VssID social insurance application to track on my phone and it was done right away,” said Mr. Hoang.

According to Chien Dan Social Insurance Director Nguyen Thanh Dung, individual business owners often focus on business and have little time to pay attention to social security policies. Therefore, propaganda work must be flexible and proactive in bringing policy information to the people.

Up to now, Chien Dan Social Insurance has organized 3 communication conferences in communes of Tien Phuoc and Phu Ninh districts (old), with more than 500 individual business households participating.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung said: “Propaganda through conferences helps social insurance officers clearly present policies, regulations and benefits, and at the same time answer questions for people. When fully understood, new policies come into life; many business households realize that social security is a guarantee for themselves, not a cost burden.”

Flexible with many mobility solutions

In parallel with the conference, Chien Dan Social Insurance maintained the traditional but effective way of going to each household to provide consultation. To increase the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization, the unit divided the subjects into groups according to business types such as: food service, grocery, small production, trade - commerce... and explained in an easy-to-understand way, linked to occupational risks and their own social security benefits.

“When analyzed with specific evidence, individual business households absorb very quickly. The unit emphasizes that participating in compulsory social insurance is not a financial burden but an accumulation for themselves, with many short-term regimes, including long-term retirement regimes,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung.

Thanks to persistent efforts and diversified forms of propaganda, especially organizing direct conferences for business owners, Chien Dan Social Insurance has gradually expanded its coverage to new groups of subjects, with 22 individual business households proactively contacting to complete their application for participation.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung said that in the coming time, the unit will continue to strengthen propaganda through many vivid visual forms, organize conferences in each locality. At the same time, coordinate with the Party Committee, People's Committee of the commune and the Fatherland Front, and mass organizations to increase the participation of the political system in implementing policies and laws on social insurance.

"The goal is not only to increase the number of participants, but more importantly, people understand their rights and proactively protect their own social security," said Chien Dan Social Security Director Nguyen Thanh Dung.
