Remittances in 2023 are nearly half of Ho Chi Minh City's total budget revenue.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Vo Van Hoan - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the city's development in the context of many difficulties in the world economy .

According to Mr. Hoan, in 2023, the amount of remittances in Ho Chi Minh City will be nearly 9.5 billion USD (an increase of more than 40% compared to 2022), equivalent to nearly 50% of the city's total budget revenue. This demonstrates the solidarity and sharing of overseas Vietnamese with the people in the country. Overseas Vietnamese always accompanies and connects with the city in many large projects and works.

After meeting with the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the overseas Vietnamese delegation participated in a meeting to honor outstanding overseas Vietnamese groups and individuals in 2024. This activity was organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.

At the meeting, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs , Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese emphasized that the distinguished overseas Vietnamese delegation are outstanding faces in many fields who have made many contributions to the country and community.

According to Ms. Hang, the overseas Vietnamese community currently has nearly 6 million people living, studying and working in 130 countries and territories. Over the past year, despite many difficulties, overseas Vietnamese have still made efforts to adapt, stabilize their lives and continue to contribute to their homeland.

To Thi Bich Chau affirmed that in the coming time, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will strongly implement overseas Vietnamese work, moving towards unifying the awareness of agencies, units in the political system and all classes of people about the importance of mobilizing, gathering and uniting overseas Vietnamese.

At the same time, strengthen supervision and social criticism in continuing to perfect and implement policies and laws on overseas Vietnamese; perfect the mechanism to promote overseas Vietnamese resources to contribute to the development and deep international integration of the country.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front awarded certificates of merit to 7 collectives and 15 outstanding overseas Vietnamese individuals.
