Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai - Deputy Chief of Office of Ho Chi Minh City People 's Committee emphasized that the Party and State always consider overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the ethnic community , and at the same time an important factor in strengthening international cooperation . According to Ms. Mai, Ho Chi Minh City is aiming to become a super city , the leading economic - industrial - logistics center in Southeast Asia , while investing heavily in healthcare , education and developing the young generation . To achieve this goal , the city needs to mobilize maximum resources from the overseas Vietnamese community . Currently, there are nearly 3 million Vietnamese people with connections to Ho Chi Minh City , of which more than 2.2 million are living in major economic, scientific and technological centers in the world.

Remittances continue to be an important resource. Every year, the amount of remittances transferred to Ho Chi Minh City accounts for 40-53% of the country . In 2024, the figure will reach about 10.3 billion USD. In the second quarter of 2025 alone, remittances to the city will reach nearly 2.82 billion USD, an increase of 17% over the previous quarter .

To effectively promote this resource , the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved the project " Policy to effectively promote remittance resources in Ho Chi Minh City until 2030 ", aiming to create favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to participate in investment , production , business and contribute to other important fields . The city affirms that it will continue to improve policies and expand cooperation opportunities for the overseas Vietnamese community to join in the cause of socio - economic development .
