Create favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to participate in investment and start-up businesses

DNVN - On August 27, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee organized a meeting with overseas Vietnamese to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. The event was attended by more than 50 overseas Vietnamese, representatives of departments and branches, and many researchers and scientists.

Within the framework of the program , overseas Vietnamese visited the exhibition of national achievements , the exhibition "80 years of Vietnamese Diplomacy: Honor and Pride " and the space displaying cultural and artistic works with the theme " Vietnam in the eyes of overseas Vietnamese ". Besides , the delegates exchanged with Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Minh Hong - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Historical Science Association , listening to historical stories associated with the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai - Deputy Chief of Office of Ho Chi Minh City People 's Committee emphasized that the Party and State always consider overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the ethnic community , and at the same time an important factor in strengthening international cooperation . In recent years, overseas Vietnamese resources in the fields of knowledge, finance , and solidarity have contributed significantly to the development of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country .

According to Ms. Mai , Ho Chi Minh City is aiming to become a super city , the leading economic - industrial - logistics center in Southeast Asia , while investing heavily in healthcare , education and youth development. To achieve this goal , the city needs to mobilize maximum resources from the overseas Vietnamese community . Currently , there are nearly 3 million Vietnamese people with connections to Ho Chi Minh City, of which more than 2.2 million are living in major economic , scientific and technological centers in the world .

Remittances continue to be an important resource. Every year, the amount of remittances transferred to Ho Chi Minh City accounts for 40-53% of the country. In 2024, the figure reached about 10.3 billion USD. In the second quarter of 2025 alone, remittances to the city reached nearly 2.82 billion USD, an increase of 17% over the previous quarter .

To effectively promote this resource , the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has approved the project " Policy to effectively promote remittance resources in Ho Chi Minh City until 2030", aiming to create favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to participate in investment , production , business and contribute to other important fields . The city affirms that it will continue to improve policies and expand cooperation opportunities for the overseas Vietnamese community to join in the cause of socio - economic development .
