WTI Crude Oil January 2026 58.67 USD 0.05%

World oil prices recovered today , after a more than 1% drop in the previous session as the market weighed the fragile prospects of Russia-Ukraine peace talks and concerns about oversupply amid escalating geopolitical tensions.

The market is closely following the developments in the Russia-Ukraine peace talks, following a meeting at the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. The market hopes that this dialogue can open a new step, thereby easing restrictions on oil supplies from Russia.

Oil prices are being driven by hopes of a breakthrough in negotiations, but those hopes could fade quickly, while the risk of supply disruptions remains high as energy continues to be a target for both sides in the conflict, according to Clayton Seigle, an expert at CSIS.

Against this backdrop, President Putin is set to embark on a two-day visit to India from Thursday, aiming to boost oil, missile and fighter jet deals, thereby restoring defence-energy ties with New Delhi, which have been affected by pressure from Washington.

Putin's mixed statements also caused oil prices to fluctuate slightly when they initially signaled that Russia would maintain stable supplies to India, but later showed that the prospect of peace may not be as close as expected.

The oil market has been under pressure from oversupply recently, but attacks on Russian infrastructure over the weekend and rising tensions between the US and Venezuela have helped to balance sentiment somewhat.

Thus, the world gasoline price today, December 3, 2025, increased slightly compared to yesterday.
