Implementing the environmental protection plan for Mui Ca Mau Biosphere Reserve

Ca Mau Ca Mau has just signed a decision to promulgate a plan to manage and protect the environment of the Ca Mau Cape World Biosphere Reserve, period 2026 - 2030.

On February 12, information from the office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province said that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee signed a decision to promulgate a plan to manage and protect the environment of the Mui Ca Mau World Biosphere Reserve for the period 2026 - 2030, in order to promote the value of the title, preserve the characteristic ecosystem and ensure full implementation of functions as required by UNESCO.

Accordingly, the general objective of the plan is to promote the values ​​of the World Biosphere Reserve title. Preserve the original state of the characteristic ecosystem, natural resources, and biodiversity. Ensure that the Mui Ca Mau World Biosphere Reserve meets the 3 functions (conservation, development, and support) and ensures the 7 criteria as prescribed by UNESCO. Contribute to the implementation of national responsibilities in implementing the MAB Strategy and the LIMA Action Plan 2015 - 2025.

The plan is implemented throughout the entire Mui Ca Mau World Biosphere Reserve, including 3 sub-zones: a core zone of 17,353 hectares serving biodiversity conservation; a buffer zone of 43,527 hectares supporting sustainable development, community livelihoods and climate change adaptation; a transition zone of 310,626 hectares promoting sustainable socio -economic development associated with the conservation of cultural values ​​and indigenous knowledge.

The People's Committee of Ca Mau province assigned the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the provincial departments, branches, sectors, commune-level People's Committees, relevant agencies and functional units to organize the implementation of this plan to ensure compliance with legal regulations. At the same time, take full responsibility before the law and competent authorities for the contents of the work to be performed, the contents of the tasks proposed in the plan as well as the effectiveness of the tasks.
