These days, the bustling Christmas atmosphere has spread not only to the parishes in the center but also to the countryside where the parishes and parishioners live. Parishioners have decorated the streets, churches, grottos, Christmas trees, ready to welcome the peaceful and joyful Christmas 2024. Many streets, tourist attractions, shopping areas, etc. are also decorated brightly, becoming ideal places for young people to check-in... The later it gets at night, the more splendid, brilliant and warm the scene becomes. The colorfully decorated locations have also attracted thousands of people to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere.

Thua Thien Hue currently has about 58,500 Catholics with 1 major seminary, 155 places of worship, 5 deaneries, 71 parishes, 43 chapels and 8 religious orders... With the open and liberal policy on freedom of belief and religion of the Party and State, in recent times, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) at all levels has worked with Party committees and local authorities to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and the State's laws and policies on belief and religion; guide and resolve the legitimate needs and aspirations of religious organizations, dignitaries and followers in accordance with the law.

As a part of the great national unity bloc, Catholics in the province have promoted the tradition of patriotism, solidarity, attachment, always accompanying and sharing social responsibility with the spirit of living "good life, beautiful religion". At the same time, they actively responded and participated in campaigns, patriotic emulation movements, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, humanitarian charity activities, responding to climate change, building a "bright, green, clean, beautiful" community. In particular, they actively participated in charity activities, social charity, health, education... contributing to the socio -economic development, maintaining national defense and security of the province.

Notably, up to now, the whole province has 14 private kindergartens invested in by the Catholic Church, which have been developed rapidly and trusted by parents, sending their children to study. Thereby, it has significantly contributed to meeting the needs of sending children to school, reducing the overload in publiceducational institutions. In the Catholic Church, there are 3 social protection facilities that have participated very well in the care, nurturing and rehabilitation of people with disabilities and vocational training, contributing to ensuring social security; 4 Catholic medical examination and treatment facilities, in addition to examining and treating tens of thousands of people in difficult circumstances every year, the facilities also organize many mobile groups to examine and provide free medicine in remote areas... Volunteer work is also focused on with a value of tens of billions of VND in 2024.

Accompanying in building the homeland and country

In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming Christmas, the provincial leaders, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and leaders at all levels and sectors visited and congratulated the dignitaries, officials, monks and nuns, and typical Catholics in the province. The provincial leaders acknowledged and expressed their joy at the spirit of solidarity, unanimity and joint efforts of the Catholic people for the development of the province over the past time. At the same time, they hoped that the dignitaries and Catholics would live a good life and follow all policies of the Party and laws of the State; continue to participate in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and localities, contributing to the development of the local socio-economy to become more and more prosperous.

Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Van acknowledged and highly appreciated the support, contributions and consensus of religious congregations, dignitaries, monks and Catholics in the province in preserving and promoting the tradition of patriotism, building and consolidating the great national unity bloc; well implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and actively participating in activities deployed by the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels.

“We believe that Catholic dignitaries, monks and nuns will continue to promote their roles and responsibilities, and with their prestige and influence, always uphold the tradition of patriotism, accompany the nation in “living a good life and following their religion”, and make practical contributions to the cause of national unity to build and develop our province to become increasingly prosperous,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Van emphasized.

The people of the province in general and the Catholic community in particular are happy and ready to accompany the province when the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution on the establishment of Hue City under the Central Government, an event marking an important historical milestone in the development of Thua Thien Hue province. Accordingly, Catholic community will join the Party Committee and the government in solidarity, consensus, agreement, unity, joining hands and wholeheartedly contributing to building Hue City as "civilized, friendly, safe, and rich in identity".
