Experience to help reduce the risk of missing trains or buses when traveling

Being late and missing trains is a nightmare for many travelers, but can be avoided with smart planning.

On the road , due to time and cost constraints, many people have to arrange a rather tight schedule, and face the risk of missing the train or bus. The following experiences will help you make a smooth schedule, avoiding delays and missed flights.

Planes, trains, metros, and ships have a distinct advantage over other means of transport because they operate on their own routes, avoid traffic jams, and face fewer risks of collisions. They are not always on time, but they are much less likely to be late than buses or taxis. Metros and trains also have the added advantage of being less affected by the weather.

Therefore, vehicles with their own routes will help ensure a better schedule than vehicles sharing the same traffic infrastructure such as buses, taxis, motorbikes, especially for long distances. In return, you need to calculate the exact time to get to the airport or train station because it is not easy to buy a ticket for another trip immediately or if you want to buy one, you have to pay more than the original. Buses and taxis have stable prices and a variety of time options, but if you encounter a traffic jam, you can be delayed for an hour.

Do not schedule multiple long-distance trains or buses in one day.

If your trip involves several cities, you will need to book multiple trains and buses. There are places you only plan to visit briefly, such as flying there in the morning and then taking a train to another place in the evening. Such an itinerary carries many risks in terms of time and cost, because you cannot be sure that the train or bus company you have purchased tickets from will operate on time for you to catch the next flight. Factors such as health, weather, passenger density, and waiting time for check-in procedures can also disrupt your trip.

Solution: Avoid making multiple long trips in one day. If you have time, stay there for a night, take advantage of the time to sightsee and rest, then set off again the next day.

Avoid rush hour trains and buses

Sometimes it is not easy to get up early to catch the first train in the morning or the late train in the evening, but in return, tourists will reduce the risk of traffic jams, having to queue, and waiting for a long time. Off-peak hours also make tourists feel much more comfortable compared to the hustle and bustle of rush hour. Paperwork and luggage procedures can also be carried out more quickly and conveniently during off-peak hours.

Many airlines, train companies, and bus companies offer better fares during off-peak hours than during peak hours, so you can save a significant amount of money. You can even change your seat to your preferred location if there are any available seats on the train or bus. But if you travel during peak hours, just bumping into other passengers can be annoying, and you may even run the risk of having your bag or belongings stolen.

Pack early before departure

Due to being absorbed in sightseeing, many tourists do not pack their luggage before departure with the mentality of "waking up early tomorrow and still having time to pack". However, the next day they are in a hurry, anxious, afraid of being late, making mistakes, missing procedures, leading to forgetting things, or arranging things inappropriately leading to damage to belongings, or mistakenly putting carry-on items in checked baggage and vice versa.

To avoid any risks, always pack your luggage neatly before the departure date so that you are ready to go the next day. Then, you will minimize the possibility of forgetting things, making mistakes or being late for the train or bus just because you are fumbling with your luggage.

Keep things as light as possible

Many tourists travel with many large and small items, as if they were bringing "the whole wardrobe", along with food and drinks, a few pairs of shoes, fashion handbags and accessories. Bringing many things can help you satisfy your desire to dress up and take pictures, but in return, you will have to manage and arrange a large amount of items throughout the trip, which sometimes makes you spend more time than expected, leading to being late.

Especially if your luggage is overweight or oversized, you will not only spend more money on shipping fees, but also spend more time doing related procedures, while the train or car has already departed without you. Therefore, in all cases, calculate carefully to bring enough necessary items, minimizing bulky items.

Shoes and clothing that support movement

At many tourist destinations, people often see high heels with loose soles lying on the side of the road because the owner has damaged the shoes while traveling. In this case, tourists often do not have spare shoes, so they have to spend more time going back to the hotel to get another pair or go find a new pair, leading to an impact on travel time.

On the other hand, if you are going on long trips, the large platforms and parking lots will not be "friendly" to high heels or hard-soled shoes or large, heavy shoes. If this journey requires you to walk a lot, choose shoes and clothes that support movement to make your body most comfortable.

Learn carefully the rules and procedures of each trip.

Some travelers believe that the most important thing is to buy cheap train or bus tickets and arrive on time. However, when they arrive at the station or terminal, they discover that there are regulations that they cannot meet. For example, some airlines require online check-in before arriving at the airport. Shipping lines specify maximum dimensions (length, width, height) for each item of luggage. Many places require a health declaration form or medical condition, and if traveling with children, a copy of the birth certificate along with a guardian's authorization letter is required.

In case you cannot handle these regulations in time, you will miss your trip, wasting more time and money. Therefore, before buying tickets, you should carefully study the procedures of each place to decide whether to go or not.
