The Legend of Phu Tu Islet

One of the issues that many tourists are interested in when coming here is the story of Phu Tu Islet. Legend has it that, long ago in this sea area, there was a very ferocious dragon that often sank boats to eat fishermen. Next to Hang Pagoda, at the foot of the mountain, there was a father and son who worked as fishermen. Disgruntled with this situation, the father was determined to kill the wild beast to protect the villagers.

After considering and calculating all the plans, he realized that the only way to kill the sea dragon was to sacrifice himself. Therefore, the father decided to poison himself and lie down on the edge of the sea as bait for the sea dragon. When he saw his father die, the son immediately hugged his father and cried bitterly. The poison from his father seeped into the son and he was also poisoned and died. After that, the sky was stormy, with rain and wind for several days. Where the father and son lay, two large and small rocks appeared, which were later called Phu Tu Rock by the people.
