La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep in the flow of history

That is the theme of the national scientific conference co-organized by the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, opening this morning (October 21) in Ha Tinh city.

The opening session was chaired by Dr. Vo Hong Hai - Head of the Organizing Committee of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee; Master Le Ngoc Chau - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Prof. Dr., People's Teacher Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Chairman of the National Cultural Heritage Council, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Historical Science Association; Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Quang Hai - former Director of the Institute of History, Editor-in-Chief of the Historical Research Journal; Associate Professor Dr. Bien Minh Dien - Vinh University; Mr. Bui Xuan Thap - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh; Mr. Nghiem Sy Dong - Secretary of the Can Loc District Party Committee.

La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep (1723 - 1804) was from Kim Song Truong commune (Can Loc district, Ha Tinh), in a family, a clan, in a land rich in traditions of learning and patriotism.

As a modern scholar, with a deep sense of responsibility for the fate of the country and people, La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep chose for himself a unique path, based on taking the fate of the country and the lives of all people as the goal of his practice. He was a noble personality, a great intellect, a noble soul, and a steadfast, steadfast character.

Emperor Quang Trung highly appreciated La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep: "Looking up to Luc Nien citadel, there is a talented person there, it is heaven that reserved Phu Tu for his virtue". And Professor Hoang Xuan Han said: "Thanks to Phu Tu, Confucianism spread throughout the Hoan Chau region", "because of his characteristics, Phu Tu was involved in all the main roles in the historical drama of the time"...

Today, although it has been nearly 220 years since Nguyen Thiep passed away, his lessons on "behavior and conduct", on lifestyle and behavior, on dealing with current events, on ethics, on humanity, on taking the people as the foundation "the people are the foundation of the country, only when the foundation is strong can the country be peaceful"... still have a lot of value.

Although he was a famous person, the research works on La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep up to now are still very modest. Besides the work La Son Phu Tu by Professor Hoang Xuan Han written in 1953, published in Paris, and the Poetry of La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep by Nguyen Si Can published in 1998, up to now there have only been a few scattered topics and articles, not worthy of the merits and career of the Confucian scholar La Son Nguyen Thiep.

On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep (1723 - 2023), the conference aims to announce collections, research, and new studies about La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep such as his life, personality, career, hometown, era, social relationships, history,...).

Thereby supplementing and affirming the role and contributions of La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep to the Tay Son Dynasty in particular, and to the culture and history of the country in general. At the same time, preserving, exploiting and promoting the cultural heritage values ​​of the Tay Son Dynasty and La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep in Ha Tinh.
