On August 28, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province informed that the department sent a document to the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Department of Fisheries and Islands, and localities to promptly resolve fishermen's need for fishing vessel inspection.

Accordingly, 789 fishing vessels in the province have expired fishing licenses, 1,478 fishing vessels have expired fishing licenses, not ensuring operating conditions, greatly affecting the province's task of combating IUU fishing.

Many fishing boats have expired registration.

The reason is that after the merger and consolidation into the new Lam Dong province, the Department of Fisheries and Seas and Islands; the Fishing Vessel Inspection Center is waiting for the issuance of new functions, tasks, organizational structure and seal engraving, so it cannot receive and process fishing vessel records of fishermen whose inspection has expired.

In order to strengthen management, ensure technical safety and legal conditions for fishing vessels, the Department of Agriculture and Environment assigned the Department of Fisheries and Seas to direct the Fishing Vessel Inspection Center to review expired registration vessels and fishing vessels with expired fishing licenses to provide a list to communes and wards with fishing vessels. From there, localities directed and mobilized ship owners to urgently go to private sand vessel inspection facilities for inspection.

In addition, the Fishing Vessel Inspection Center is responsible for exchanging and closely coordinating with private fishing vessel inspection facilities to fully and accurately update vessel inspection information into the software system and synchronize it to the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase) according to regulations.

In addition, the Provincial Border Guard Command directed the stations and coastal border control stations to coordinate with the regional fisheries control stations and the representative offices of fisheries control at fishing ports to organize announcements and provide information on private fishing vessel inspection facilities for ship owners to contact. At the same time, the Provincial Border Guard strengthened inspection and control of fishing vessels at seaports, not allowing them to leave port to fish at sea without ensuring the prescribed conditions; resolutely handle and punish cases of non-compliance and intentional violations.
