Visiting Phu Ninh district these days, everyone can easily feel the new vitality as well as the prosperous life present in every house. The small, narrow, dusty and muddy inter-village roads have now been upgraded to be spacious and smooth, with flowers and trees planted on both sides of the road.

Along with that, welfare works such as schools, medical stations, cultural houses, markets... have been invested in and built spaciously; the district's agricultural production has been shifted, restructured reasonably, exploiting the potential and advantages of the locality for comprehensive, sustainable and effective development; political security, social order and safety have been maintained; village roads and alleys have been lit up, the appearance of a rich, beautiful and livable countryside is clearly present.

Mr. Huynh Xuan Chinh, Chairman of Phu Ninh District People's Committee said: "To have livable rural areas like today, many solutions have been focused on by the locality. In particular, special attention has been paid to strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels, promoting awareness of all levels, sectors and people about new rural construction".

Along with that is to complete and improve the quality of new rural criteria and focus on completing the construction of advanced new rural criteria, model new rural areas. Take advantage of resources to invest in fast-developing rural socio -economic infrastructure; maintain emulation movements with widespread influence such as: Skillful mass mobilization, "All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas", "Clean houses, beautiful gardens, clear roads", "Farmers are good at production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty"...

According to Mr. Chinh, thanks to timely direction and leadership of Party committees and local authorities, up to now, 10 communes in the district have been confirmed to maintain new rural standards in 2021.

However, according to the set of criteria for new rural communes in the period of 2022-2025, all 10 communes have not yet met the standards. Phu Ninh district has met 7/9 criteria for new rural districts, 4/9 criteria for advanced new rural districts, and 19/48 villages have been recognized as meeting the standards of model new rural residential areas.

In 2023, Phu Ninh district's economy will continue to grow and bring many results; the economic structure will shift in a positive direction with the proportion of agriculture 15.78% - industry and construction 40.08% - trade and services 44.14%; the value per unit of cultivated area currently reaches 105.2 million VND/ha.

Up to now, the average income of people has reached over 55.5 million VND/person/year, an increase of more than 44 million VND compared to 2010; multidimensional poor households have decreased to 447 households, a rate of 1.93%; near-poor households have decreased to 228 households, a rate of 1.24%.

Towards advanced new rural district

Mr. Le Van Tinh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Phu Ninh district said that, implementing the new rural criteria for the period 2021-2025, Phu Ninh district continues to focus on investing and completing synchronous infrastructure, especially essential infrastructure serving production and people's lives such as transportation, irrigation....

In particular, promoting the completion of production infrastructure to develop concentrated raw material areas in Tam Phuoc, Tam Thanh, Tam Dan communes...; at the same time preserving and promoting local cultural values ​​associated with the development of material and cultural facilities, as a basis for developing activities to improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

Mr. Tinh added that, in order to achieve the goal of rural development associated with the urbanization process, Phu Ninh district focuses on developing a bright - green - clean - beautiful rural environment, expanding model roads in each commune, building eco-tourism and community tourism spots in Tam Lanh, Tam Dai....

Along with that, the locality continues to develop and complete the infrastructure of industrial clusters, creating a favorable environment to attract investment in the area. Thereby, creating many jobs for rural workers, contributing to the transformation of economic and labor structures, and stabilizing life.

To increase people's income in a sustainable way, Phu Ninh promotes production linkages according to value chains, effectively implements the OCOP Program (One Commune One Product), promotes organic production, applies high technology, develops collective economy....

"Building a new countryside is a long-term, continuous process, with only a starting point, no end point. Phu Ninh district continues to promote propaganda and mobilize people to change their structure, crops and livestock, boldly invest and develop production and business; prioritize essential infrastructure works, ensure rural - urban connections and regional connections, in order to create livable countrysides for people...", Mr. Huynh Xuan Chinh - Chairman of Phu Ninh District People's Committee emphasized.

The goal by 2025 is that Phu Ninh district will maintain and upgrade 9/9 communes to meet the new rural commune standards (except Tam Vinh commune); have at least 5/9 communes meet the advanced new rural standards; at least 2 communes meet the model new rural standards; maintain the new rural district standards, build the district to meet the advanced new rural district standards....
