Writing poetry on old phone, female student publishes many books

From social media to books

Before writing books, Ho Duong Mong Tuyen - currently a third-year student, Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - was the author of a poetry page on Facebook called Xanh Lam, with more than 360,000 followers.

Mong Tuyen has loved writing since primary and secondary school. As an introvert and a quiet person, Tuyen feels that if people choose to express their thoughts and feelings, she is more suitable for writing.

At first, you only wrote to express your feelings, however, Tuyen's works were loved by many friends. Seeing that, Tuyen opened a poetry page on Facebook. Even more surprising when the posts attracted thousands of interactions with just familiar poems, sentences and illustrations drawn by you.

Mong Tuyen revealed that she wrote and drew everything on her old phone. Even when she was invited to write a book by a publisher, her old phone still accompanied Tuyen. She typed the words that came to her in the notes section of her phone, and at night she went to the library to borrow a computer to continue writing.

From the smallest collections, Mong Tuyen completed her first collection of poems called " Going around the world still around one person " (Vietnamese Women's Publishing House). Next, she collaborated and published the collection of poems and essays " The porch blocks all storms " (The World Publishing House).

Most recently, she released the poetry collection " Hiding on the Roof to Cry " (Dan Tri Publishing House), attracting the attention of young readers when it sold 20,000 copies.

Ms. Kim Han - literature teacher, Tran Van On High School ( Ben Tre ), who used to be Mong Tuyen's teacher - recalled: "Since her high school years, Mong Tuyen has shown her literary talent. Tuyen used to participate in writing articles for the school, and each article was full of emotions. In my opinion, Tuyen's books are very emotional, containing a peaceful space for the souls of young people".

New clothes for everyday life

The articles in Mong Tuyen's books have diverse topics. All are close and everyday, but carry a lovely perspective and thoughts from the author.

Nguyen Minh Thu - a second-year student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics - shared: "Xanh Lam's books have a very different color.

These are not thrilling stories, nor academic knowledge, they are all very familiar and simple everyday stories.

They help me feel comforted and shared in the midst of life's troubles."

Mong Tuyen confided that compliments are a great motivation for her to be more confident in her writing. "Honestly, I'm very happy. There were days when I was lying down and reading everyone's words of encouragement, I just smiled," Mong Tuyen said.

Sharing about her upcoming plans, the young female author said that she needs to gain more experience and practice her writing skills to be able to bring everyone meaningful words and become more mature every day.
