Yamal returned to training with Barcelona on July 13, amid a public outcry over his lavish 18th birthday party over the weekend. Notably, the event is being investigated by the Spanish government .

According to local media, the mafia-themed party was held at a private villa, with around 200 guests, including Barcelona teammates Robert Lewandowski, Alejandro Balde and Gavi.
However, the party quickly became the focus of criticism after it emerged that the organizers had “hired dwarfs for entertainment” and “invited women with a certain bust size to attend”.
New leaked photos of the party show five men with achondroplasia checking in. Several women were also seen passing through security to enter the main venue. Although guests were asked to take their phones and not take photos, many photos from the party were still released and sparked heated debate.

Tensions continued to escalate when model Claudia Calvo (Miss Teen Spain 2021) revealed that she had been invited to attend Yamal's birthday party for a salary of up to 20,000 euros, with the following requirements regarding her appearance: "Blonde hair, certain bust measurements, available for 24 hours and not knowing the location in advance". Calvo announced that she withdrew when she found Yamal's request "confusing" and "lacking transparency".
Responding to the outcry, the Association for People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Disorders (ADEE) issued a statement condemning the practice of hiring dwarfs as entertainment at the party and announcing legal action. ADEE President Carolina Puente said: “Using disabled people as a form of entertainment is unacceptable in the 21st century, especially when celebrities like Yamal are involved.

These acts are not only illegal but also go against the basic moral values of a society of equality and respect for human beings. When a person with social influence engages in such activities, the negative impact on young people is extremely serious. We will not remain silent.”
The Spanish government has also officially stepped in. According to Marca, Yamal could face a fine of up to £867,000 (more than €1 million), while the Director General for People with Disabilities, Jesus Martin, has asked the relevant ministers to approve the proposal for an investigation.
“We are concerned that people with money and power think they are immune to the law. The law is for everyone, from the weak to the powerful,” said Jesus Martin, warning of the negative impact on young people who look up to Yamal as a role model.
In the TV show “Y ahora Sonsoles”, Yamal’s father, Mounir Nasraoui, simply said: “The party was great” and refused to answer further. Meanwhile, journalist Pipi Estrada said that Barcelona’s board are “very worried” about the 18-year-old’s recent behavior.
Estrada compared Yamal to Real Madrid's 17-year-old new signing Franco Mastantuono, saying that President Florentino Perez would not allow such an event to happen at Real Madrid. "I bet Mastantuono would not have organized such a party," Estrada said. "At Real Madrid, Mr. Florentino would have banned it. Barcelona doesn't like it. They are very worried. The board should call him and say clearly: You are going the wrong way."

The concerns are just the latest in a series of problems involving Yamal in recent times. Previously, the 2007-born player caused a stir when he was caught vacationing with model and flight attendant Fati Vazquez, a star on the OnlyFans platform and 12 years older than him.
The two were photographed together on a jet ski in Pantelleria Island (Italy), along with pictures enjoying a yacht, swimming pool and even a helicopter. That led to public speculation about their relationship. However, Yamal later denied it on Instagram with a photo taken with Neymar in Rio de Janeiro, with the caption: "Single and happy, this is Brazil!".
In response to the criticism, Yamal did not make an official statement, but instead posted a one-minute video on social media with the caption: “Just one minute, enjoy.” In the video, he appeared in a white suit, red roses, sunglasses, and a cane, with a typical “godfather” style. The young player also wore a necklace worth around £300,000, engraved with the letters “LY,” given to him by Dominican rapper El Alfa.
Over the years, Barcelona have tried to protect Yamal from the media. However, they are worried that one day they will not be able to control the young star's rebellion. Los Blaugrana are nurturing Yamal to become a new icon like Messi in the past.
