Gartner, the world's leading IT research and consulting company, has just announced a report on global IT services market share. For the first time, FPT has entered the Top 40 IT services enterprises in Asia and the Top 140 IT services enterprises on a global scale.
Gartner evaluates and ranks businesses based on the scale of IT service revenue in 2024. With Technology revenue reaching more than 1.4 billion USD, FPT has increased 6 places in the Asia regional rankings and increased 18 places in Gartner's global rankings.
In 2024, the Technology sector will play the role of FPT's main growth driver with revenue reaching VND 39,110 billion, accounting for 62.2% of the Group's total revenue and pre-tax profit reaching VND 5,230 billion, accounting for 47.2% of the Group's total pre-tax profit.
Of which, the IT service segment for foreign markets, with a revenue growth of 27.4%, contributed 79.1% of revenue and 91.2% of pre-tax profit of the Technology segment.
This strong growth momentum is driven by the explosive demand for digital transformation globally. FPT has also signed many large-scale projects globally such as a $225 million contract in the US, a $115 million contract in Germany and a $110 million contract in Singapore.
All key markets in FPT's globalization strategy recorded good growth. The Japanese market grew an impressive 32.2% in revenue over the same period, surpassing the 500 million USD mark in 2024. The Asia- Pacific market reached 8,240 billion VND in revenue, up 34.8% over the same period.
FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh said that in 2024, FPT announced its strategy (Artificial Intelligence (AI) - Semiconductors (Sell) - Digital Automotive Technology (Vehicles) - Digital Transformation (Digital) - Green Transformation (Green), in which AI is the most important strategic pillar. In 2025 and the following years, FPT will continue to persistently exploit opportunities from the five keywords AI - Sell - Vehicles - Digital - Green to increase capacity, affirm its position as a trusted and prestigious technology partner globally and contribute to enhancing Vietnam's position as a global destination for smart digital transformation, AI, Semiconductors."
At the 6th National Forum on Vietnamese Digital Technology Enterprises in January 2025, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT, said that the corporations that came before us, they kept tens of billions of USD in revenue in traditional industries, so their teams mostly focused on information technology. Meanwhile, Vietnam easily switched to a field that was not large, not worth tens of billions of USD, but grew very quickly, which was digital transformation.
Mr. Truong Gia Binh also pointed out a very special event that will bring growth in the coming years, which is geopolitical conflict. When the powers withdraw from China, they transfer that job to Vietnam. They even transfer the team that they have spent many years building to Vietnam.
By doing so, FPT has shortened the path to accumulate knowledge and know-how about the industry and technology. Now that Vietnam has a team equivalent to developed countries in IT, we need to change. Resolution 57 is like a sign that the country's fortunes have come.
Previously, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung said that Vietnam is a country with many excellent digital technology enterprises, capable of solving all global and local problems with digital technology. Commenting that going abroad is a difficult but glorious task, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung pointed out that this is the mission of enterprises to turn Vietnam into a dragon and a tiger, becoming a developed country with high income by 2045.
“Enterprises should attach their mission to the national mission. Attach their destiny to the national destiny. And that is how businesses develop sustainably and last forever. Because the nation and the country are forever. Preserving the country and making the country famous is the new mission of Vietnamese enterprises, especially Vietnamese digital technology enterprises,” the Minister called.
The head of the IT&T industry also had convincing analysis and evidence to affirm that Vietnamese digital technology enterprises need to go abroad and have the capacity and conditions to reach out globally.
According to the Minister, now is the time for Vietnamese digital technology enterprises to reach out and conquer the world: “The biggest opportunity is when the world is undergoing major changes, when a new industrial revolution is taking place with many new technologies. The opportunity for a country to change its ranking is now.”
As of the end of March 2024, Vietnam had 207 foreign investment projects in the field of information and communications, with a total registered capital of 2.82 billion USD (accounting for nearly 13% of the total registered capital for foreign investment), in 33 countries. Most of the investment projects focus on Singapore, Japan, Korea, the US, etc.
Large-scale telecommunications projects often focus on African countries and developing economies. Viettel is one of the very successful investors in contributing to socio-economic development as well as digital transformation for developing countries, playing a very important role in the socio-economic development of these countries.
Recently, FPT has proposed to increase capital in 4 markets: the United States, Japan, Germany and Singapore. Along with that, FPT and many large enterprises are also having documents to promote international business activities in other markets.
