In the face of the intersection of many new cultural streams, traditional artistic values such as poetry still have a solid position in the public's heart.

In recent times, the poetry movement in Son La province has continuously developed and spread widely with many poetry clubs attracting hundreds of members, each year composing thousands of poetic works with diverse and rich forms and contents, expressing love for the homeland and contributing to the development of Son La's cultural flow.

As one of the 5 poetry clubs in Son La city, Chieng Le Poetry Club was established in 1996, after 28 years of maintenance and development, up to now there are 25 members, most of whom are retired cadres who have worked in many fields, knowledgeable about culture and art, deeply emotional with the people and homeland of Son La. Among them are many typical authors such as: Cao Thanh, Tran Phien, Hoang Viet Thang, Bui Nguyen Luong with many quality works, often published in provincial and central magazines. Throughout its development, the Club has made its mark through 4 published poetry collections including: "Chieng Le in me"; "Chieng Le Poetry"; "Color of soldier's shirt"; "Soul of land - love of poetry".

Mr. Cao Thanh, a member of the Chieng Le Poetry Club, said: The club is always a cultural and artistic playground, satisfying the passion of poetry lovers. The compositions of the club members always closely follow the breath of life, are sensitive, promptly serve the political tasks of the locality, major events of the country and the province, promptly and vividly reflect the economic, cultural and social development, actively contribute to the propaganda and mobilization of the masses to participate in patriotic emulation movements, campaigns in wards, communes, groups, villages..., enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the people.

As a retired cadre with a poetic soul, Mr. Bui Nguyen Luong, a member of the Son La City Literature Association, always spends a lot of time researching, collecting and composing poetry. At the same time, he actively participates in writing camps organized by the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, visiting many lands and countrysides in the province to contemplate life, learn about the cultural identity of ethnic groups, thereby inspiring creativity. In the early spring of Giap Thin, Mr. Bui Nguyen Luong has just completed the poem "Young City of Son La" with emotional verses praising the development of his mountain hometown.

Mr. Bui Nguyen Luong's poem was selected to be performed in the 2024 Nguyen Tieu Poetry Night program. He shared: Whether you are a poet or just a poetry lover, someone who likes to write poetry, emotion is always the most important factor in creating a work. To have many emotions, you have to travel a lot, read a lot, and experience a lot. The more emotional the poet is, the more abundant the poetic meaning will be. Especially after each composition is performed, shared, and commented on with fellow poets, it will be very joyful and happy.

Every year on the full moon day of the first lunar month, along with the whole country, poetry lovers of Son La province gather at the Nguyen Tieu Poetry Night to enjoy profound and unique verses. This year, the 22nd Nguyen Tieu Poetry Night program, jointly organized by the Vietnam Association of Literature and Arts and the Provincial Border Guard Command on the evening of February 22, with the theme "The Harmony of the Country", will bring to generations of poetry lovers a colorful poetic picture of life, culture, people, and changes in the homeland, carrying beautiful aspirations, the values of truth - goodness - beauty that poetry strives for.

Painter Le Chuong, Chairman of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, said: This is the 22nd time the Provincial Literature and Arts Association has chaired and coordinated the organization of the Nguyen Tieu poetry night. The theme "The Harmony of the Country" is to honor the spirit of national unity. This is also a practical cultural and artistic event to celebrate important events and major holidays of the country in 2024, at the same time, contributing to spreading the beauty of poetry and the value of literature and art to the public.

The aesthetic values that poetry brings make life richer and more vivid, becoming a bond between people. Above all, poetry is also a form of propaganda, introducing and promoting the image of the land, culture and people, contributing to the development of the homeland.
