On the waiting bench, Ms. Truong Thi Hon, a local resident, happily said: “My house is nearby, so whenever I feel unwell, I come here for a health insurance check-up. The doctors are very enthusiastic in examining, treating and taking care of patients.”
Ms. Hon also added that sometimes she only stopped by to measure her blood pressure or ask about health-related issues, but she was also given detailed instructions as if she were being examined by a doctor. Thanks to the consultation sessions with military doctors, she learned more about how to take care of her health and that of her family members.
In another corner of the clinic, Mr. Nguyen Van Chiem, a local resident, was waiting for his turn to have his blood pressure measured. Mr. Chiem said that for the past few years, he has been coming here every month for a check-up due to high blood pressure and aches and pains. Previously, he and other local residents had to drive a long distance to town, which was time-consuming and costly.
"Over the years, the clinic has promoted its functions and tasks in examining and treating diseases for officers, soldiers of the unit and local people; especially for people in the border area of Cambodia. Many difficult and serious cases have been successfully treated by the medical team of the unit. In addition, the clinic also cooperates with medical teams to organize medical examinations and provide free medicine to policy families and poor households in the area. The activities of the clinic contribute to promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", thereby the image of the "green uniform" doctor is increasingly known and respected by local people. Now that there is a clinic right in the commune, he and many other elderly people have less trouble. “Many rainy days, when it was time for a follow-up visit, I thought I would have to wait until another day, but the military doctors called to remind me and took care of me like a family member, so I quickly went for a follow-up visit.
The doctors here not only examine patients, but also give detailed instructions on how to eat and exercise so that the disease does not get worse. Occasionally, they call to ask if I am taking my medicine regularly. Sometimes they even come to my house to see how I raise chickens and grow vegetables, and advise me to eat clean food and reduce sweets," Mr. Chiem happily added.
As one of the border communes of Dong Thap province, Tan Ho Co faces many difficulties in providing health care for its people. Faced with this situation, implementing the direction of Tan Hong Regional Medical Center and the Logistics Department (Dong Thap Provincial Border Guard), Dinh Ba Military-Civilian General Clinic is responsible for examining, treating, providing emergency care, and providing treatment for military personnel in the area and people on both sides of the border. This activity aims to implement the Military-Civilian Medical Cooperation Program and strengthen grassroots health care, contributing to building a national defense and improving the quality of health care for the people.
The clinic currently has 7 staff members including: 2 civilian doctors, 2 general practitioners (military doctors of the Border Guard), 2 secondary pharmacists and 1 bachelor of midwifery. The medical staff are well-trained with qualifications from general practitioners to doctors, along with necessary equipment to examine and treat patients; contributing to protecting and taking care of the health of officers, soldiers of the unit and local people. The clinic is solidly built, spacious, with 12 beds, the total area of the patient room is 625 m2 . The examination area and the minor surgery, administrative, pharmaceutical and obstetric rooms are arranged conveniently and reasonably.
ALL FOR PEOPLE'S HEALTH
Professional military major Ta Huy Hiep, an employee of Dinh Ba Military-Civilian General Clinic, said that in the past, local people rarely came to the clinic for medical examination due to limited awareness of health care for themselves and their family members. In recent years, thanks to the regular propaganda work of officers and soldiers of Dinh Ba International Border Gate Border Post, people come to the clinic for medical examination more often.

During the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic, the medical team of the clinic also actively propagated epidemic prevention and control measures for people when coming to the clinic such as: Washing hands with soap, wearing masks; At the same time, coordinating with the Border Guard and the Medical Quarantine Station at the border gate to promptly handle suspected cases according to regulations.
Specialist Doctor I Phan Van Hum, Head of Dinh Ba Military-Civilian General Clinic said: “In addition to the tasks of examining, treating, providing emergency care, and treating military personnel in the area and people on both sides of the border, the clinic also organizes communication right at the base to help people improve their understanding of disease prevention such as dengue fever, hand, foot, and mouth disease, etc.; at the same time, the unit also participates in supporting national defense and security work, and combat operations when there are unexpected situations.
