The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented 400 books to students in disadvantaged areas at the launching ceremony in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day.
As the 10th year Quang Binh province has organized Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, Mr. Mai Xuan Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province, said that this is an opportunity to honor the value of books, affirm the role and importance of books in social life, in developing knowledge, inspiring creativity and spreading reading culture in the community.
“This is also an opportunity for everyone to look back at their own reading habits, their family's and society's, thereby spreading the spirit of love for books and lifelong learning - an important factor in developing high-quality human resources in the current digital transformation period,” said the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province.

Besides, to encourage reading, agencies and departments of Quang Binh province have coordinated to organize many meaningful activities and competitions.

Excitedly participating in the activities, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich (grade 9, Ngu Thuy Primary and Secondary School No. 1) said: "The festival brought joy to me and my friends in the school. We are aware that reading books is to gain knowledge, knowledge to serve ourselves and serve everyone."

Combining art performances and historical knowledge question and answer games, the Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard Library has displayed and introduced many new works about the Border Guard force, creating opportunities for students to gain a deeper understanding of the journey of managing and protecting border security and sovereignty; topics of interest; sharing experiences about reading; and better understanding the value of books in life.
Spreading the value of reading does not stop at organizing a Reading Festival but requires more efforts and attention. In particular, to build a reading habit among students, it requires the cooperation of parents, teachers and the whole society.
