Thousands of large peach trees are potted by locals, displayed for sale, and rented along the road. Many peach growers confirm that La Ca peach village does not lack peaches, but prices will increase compared to previous years.
La Ca peach village (Duong Noi, Hanoi) is famous for its peach growing profession. Although it cannot be compared to Nhat Tan peach village in terms of age, scale, area, and quantity, La Ca peach village is still known by many people.
This year, La Ca peach village grows both peach branches, bonsai peaches and ancient peach trees. Because it was not much affected by storm No. 3 ( Yagi ), peach growers in La Ca this year are considered to have a good harvest. "My family planted 600 peach trees in Duong Noi and An Khanh, enough to supply customers. However, the price of peaches this year will increase by 10-15% because the quantity of peaches is not much," said Mr. Tuan, who has 40 years of experience growing peaches.
Since early December, ancient peach trees (15 years old or more) have been potted. Some trees up to 50 years old (bought from the Northwest and grafted) are also displayed for customers to rent or buy.
Many buds have blossomed, the peach blossoms are light pink, typical of Tet in the North. "Many customers have come to rent peach trees for 15 to 30 million VND for a few days of Tet, we are very happy because this year La Ca still has a lot of peach trees to supply to people", said Mr. Hai, a peach grower here.
By mid-December, many peach garden owners continue to hire workers to strip peach leaves, a very important step in determining when the peach blossoms will bloom. "Large peach trees will have their leaves stripped first, followed by branches and bonsai. If anyone wants to sell during the New Year, they should strip earlier," said the woman in the photo.
Ms. Khanh (gray shirt), owner of a peach garden of more than 9 hectares in La Ca peach village, said that many peach owners in Nhat Tan had to go down to La Ca to buy back peaches to maintain their brand, because they could not supply enough for customers due to storm No. 3, which caused a large part of Nhat Tan's peach acreage to be lost.
Large peach trees are moved into pots and placed on sidewalks in Duong Noi village for sale.
Some peach gardens have bare roots, people cut each branch and bring it to the market to sell.
These peach trees are being sold for between 5 and 10 million VND, as of December 13.
Peach trees in pots are sold and rented near Aeon Mall Ha Dong supermarket.
Walking around the main roads in Duong Noi Urban Area, it is easy to see large peach pots placed along the sidewalk.
In La Ca, some people affected by storm No. 3 are plowing the land and planting new crops.
The branches at La Ca have not been stripped of leaves yet. According to local people, they will only carry out this step in a few more days.
