Continuous heavy rain over the past few days, combined with rising floodwaters from rivers, has caused some low-lying areas of Binh Gia, Bac Son, Huu Lung districts... to be deeply flooded.
In Binh Gia district, heavy rains lasting for 2 days on June 19 and 22, along with rising floods on the Bac Giang River, caused flooding of 148 hectares of rice, 73 hectares of corn; 62 landslides on traffic routes in the area; and caused damage to houses of 177 households.
According to information from Bac Son district, heavy rains have also caused flooding in some low-lying communes. Rising water levels since 3 p.m. on June 22 have temporarily isolated Tien Hau village, Nhat Tien commune with 148 households and cut off traffic.
Faced with that situation, Lang Son Provincial Police mobilized the Mobile Police force and the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force to deploy officers, soldiers, and vehicles to Nhat Tien commune to support the evacuation of 40 people (mainly the elderly, children, and pregnant women) to a safe place; at the same time, coordinated with local authorities and functional forces to provide necessities to the people.
By this morning, June 23, the water had begun to recede. The working group of Bac Son district directly inspected the actual situation, directed and deployed rescue work and ensured the safety of people in flooded areas. Families whose houses were flooded were moved to higher ground to ensure safety.
In addition, the Nhat Tien commune government has also planned to evacuate more than 50 households in low-lying areas of Tien Hau village to higher ground to ensure safety, if the weather continues to worsen.
Heavy rains, combined with water from other places, have also caused many areas in Huu Lung district to be flooded with crops and people's property. Many watermelon fields of the people, which were preparing for the harvest season, were almost completely damaged, said the leader of the Huu Lung district People's Committee.
Preliminary, as of 8:00 a.m. on June 23, Huu Lung district had 39 flooded areas, 11 villages were heavily flooded; 5 landslides; 64 houses were at risk of flooding. Authorities have assisted in evacuating 41 households in low-lying areas to safety. The area of rice and crops flooded is more than 341 hectares.
Currently, to ensure absolute safety for the people, Huu Lung district has placed barriers and warning signs at both ends of the flooded underground bridge; arranged shock troops on duty 24/7, and banned all means of transport from passing through the deeply flooded area.
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue at all levels of Lang Son province has mobilized forces to support people in flooded areas to move to safety; at the same time, it continuously issues warnings, closely monitors weather developments, and proactively has support plans when problems arise.
Landslide and flooded roads have also been posted with warning signs restricting people and vehicles from passing.
At the same time, at the locations of landslides and fallen trees, local authorities have also urgently cleared rocks and soil, directed standing agencies to closely monitor weather developments, and develop timely plans to ensure smooth traffic...
