Lang Son deploys many effective solutions in customs activities

By the end of June 2025, the total import and export turnover of goods through border gates in Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces reached nearly 42.5 billion USD, an increase of more than 50% over the same period in 2024.

Of which, the turnover of goods declared at the Customs Branch of Region VI reached more than 3.3 billion USD, an increase of 11.4% over the same period in 2024. Export turnover reached more than 1.1 billion USD; import turnover reached more than 2.2 billion USD.

At the border gates in Lang Son province, from January 1, 2025 to June 30, 2025, the total import-export turnover of goods reached more than 41.7 billion USD, an increase of more than 39% over the same period in 2024. The turnover of goods opened for declaration reached nearly 2.8 billion USD, an increase of 4.3% (exports reached nearly 735 million USD, down 34.9%; imports reached 2 billion USD, up 33.6%) over the same period in 2024.

For Cao Bang province, by the end of June 2025, the total import-export turnover of goods reached more than 783 million USD, an increase of more than 105% over the same period in 2024. Of which, the turnover of goods with open declarations reached 613 million USD, an increase of more than 60.5% (export turnover reached 396.6 million USD, an increase of 38.5% over the same period; import turnover reached 216.4 million USD, an increase of more than 126.5% over the same period in 2024).

Regarding immigration, in the past 6 months, the Customs Branch of Region VI has carried out customs procedures for the luggage of nearly 2 million passengers entering and leaving the country.

After the first 6 months of the year, the state budget revenue reached more than 6,725 billion VND, an increase of 63% over the same period in 2024, reaching 94% of the target assigned at the beginning of the year, reaching 70% of the target, of which Lang Son province reached nearly 5,400 billion VND; Cao Bang province reached more than 1,300 billion VND.

Lang Son is a locality with bustling import and export activities, but also has potential for complicated developments in smuggling and trade fraud.

Recently, the Regional Customs Branch VI has developed plans to implement the fight against smuggling, counterfeit goods, drugs, crime prevention, and human trafficking.

As a result, after the first 6 months of the year, the Department has detected, arrested, and handled 1,128 cases, worth more than 53.5 billion VND (the number of cases increased by 7% compared to the same period in 2024; the value increased by 134% compared to the same period in 2024). Thereby, the Department has issued decisions to sanction administrative violations in 1,108/1,128 cases, the amount of fines paid is nearly 7.9 billion VND.

At the conference to review the work of the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2025, comrade Nguyen Van Hoan, Party Secretary, Head of Customs Region VI said that the branch determined to continue to focus on directing and drastically implementing the Resolutions and Decisions of the Government, Ministry of Finance , Customs Department, Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee on tasks and goals of socio-economic development and synchronously implementing solutions, striving to collect state budget to meet and exceed the assigned targets in 2025.

The Regional Customs Branch VI will continue to strengthen inspection and control of the area, develop solutions to combat smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement; and effectively control smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods across the border, especially in the form of border gate transfers.

Speaking at the preliminary conference, Comrade Doan Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province, requested the Customs Sub-Department of Region VI and the functional forces at the border gate area to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on promoting the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation associated with assigned political tasks; coordinate to effectively implement the pilot project to build smart border gates; ensure the safety of information systems and databases; safety and security in exchanging electronic data in the network environment...

Comrade Doan Thanh Son, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee delivered a speech at the conference.

He also requested the Regional Customs Branch VI to effectively supervise and manage import and export goods, means of entry and exit, and warehouses and centralized goods inspection locations; strengthen inspection and determination of goods origin, enforce intellectual property rights protection in the customs field, and combat illegal transshipment.

In 2025, Lang Son Customs has been carrying out strong reforms in administrative procedures, applying information technology in the process of managing the import and export of goods through the area. This not only helps to clear the flow of goods, increase transparency, but also builds the trust of the business community in the customs agency as well as the forces at the border gate area.

Lang Son province is identified as an important bridge in economic and trade connection between Vietnam, ASEAN countries and China.

Currently, Lang Son is focusing on completing the transport infrastructure system, especially inter-regional connecting routes and connecting with China; at the same time, actively implementing the pilot project to build smart border gates at the Vietnam-China border as well as investing in upgrading the infrastructure of the border gate economic zone in a modern direction, applying technology suitable to the reality in the new period.
