Provincial People's Committee leaders work with Na Duong Coal Company and Na Duong Thermal Power Company

- On the morning of August 7, the working delegation of the Provincial People's Committee led by Mr. Doan Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, had a working session with the leaders of Na Duong Coal Company and Na Duong Thermal Power Company (Loc Binh district) to inspect and review the implementation of the project to expand and increase the capacity of Na Duong coal mine; the production and business activities in the first 6 months of 2024; the implementation results of a number of other projects of Na Duong Coal Company; the electricity production situation in the first 6 months of 2024 of Na Duong Thermal Power Company.

Comrade Doan Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and members of the Working Group inspected the ash and slag disposal site of Na Duong Thermal Power Plant.

According to the reports of the two companies at the meeting, in the first 6 months of 2024, the two companies encountered a number of difficulties affecting production and business activities, with output and production value both decreasing compared to the same period in 2023.

Specifically, the coal output of Na Duong Coal Company was more than 171 thousand tons, reaching 45% of the plan, down 15.81% over the same period in 2023. The decrease in coal output has affected the growth rate of Na Duong Coal Company (growth rate has decreased by 0.6% over the same period in 2023).

The electricity output of Na Duong Thermal Power Company in the first 6 months of 2024 was only nearly 394 thousand MWh, down about 11.28% compared to the same period in 2023. The reason for the decrease in electricity output is that the production materials are not guaranteed, the enterprise has to import coal from abroad to mix with coal exploited by Na Duong Coal Company at high cost, leading to increased prices, making it difficult to sell electricity.

Leaders of the Department of Planning and Investment discussed issues related to the implementation of several projects of the two companies at the working session.

Also at the meeting, the leaders of the two companies quickly reported on the implementation of the Na Duong coal mine expansion and capacity increase project; the Na Duong Thermal Power Plant ash dump project and the project for the staff house serving production operations. Accordingly, the two projects of Na Duong Thermal Power Company are currently facing difficulties and obstacles affecting the implementation.

At the meeting, delegates discussed and clarified difficulties affecting the production and business activities and implementation of some projects of the two companies; answered the recommendations of the two companies according to their authority; proposed some solutions to improve the production and business efficiency of the two companies in the coming time.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the efforts of the two companies in the past time.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested: Na Duong Coal Company continues to speed up the coordination with relevant agencies in applying for mining licenses, increasing the capacity from 600 thousand tons to 1.2 million tons/year to ensure sufficient coal supply for the current Na Duong I Thermal Power Plant and the Na Duong II Thermal Power Plant in the coming time; continue to coordinate with consulting units to research and find screening solutions to improve coal quality to meet the needs of the Thermal Power Plant; effectively implement environmental protection measures. Na Duong Thermal Power Company continues to maintain the maintenance and repair of the plant to ensure stable operation according to plan; actively implement the off-furnace desulfurization (FGD) project, soon put the project into operation to improve the efficiency of coal use at the mine, restore production value according to the design capacity of the plant.

At the same time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed: Loc Binh District People's Committee and provincial departments and branches to continue to coordinate with the two companies to resolve arising problems related to the deployment and implementation of a number of projects, promptly report and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to direct the resolution of issues under its authority.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the leaders of the Viet Bac Mining Industry Corporation - TKV-CTCP and the leaders of the Electricity Corporation - TKV to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for Na Duong Coal Company and Na Duong Thermal Power Company in production and business activities, as well as support the two companies in deploying and implementing related projects.

Regarding the recommendations of the two companies at the working session, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee accepted and assigned the departments, branches, and the People's Committee of Loc Binh district to study and consider resolving them according to their authority.
