At around 10:00 a.m. on July 10, the protection relay system at Tram Tau recorded two consecutive MC (circuit breaker) trips on the 35kV line 379E12.2, even though the weather in the area was completely normal.
After receiving information from the Lao Cai Electricity Company's Control Room, the specialized unit arranged personnel to check the incident. During the inspection, the working group received information that someone climbed the electric pole to catch birds, leading to an electrical discharge incident.
According to the scene confirmation report, the authorities identified the victim as Trang AT (born in 2012), residing in Hang Tho village, Hanh Phuc commune.
The victim suffered severe burns and was transferred to the Central hospital for emergency treatment.
The power pole that had the incident belongs to the 35kV Suoi Giao line, with the symbol DCL 379-7/145-2-42A-8-8-1. At the scene, the authorities determined that there were warning signs on the pole.
Authorities also determined that the cause of the accident was due to violations of electrical safety corridors.
To ensure safety, the electricity industry recommends that people absolutely do not approach power grid works if they are not on duty, and continue to coordinate with localities to promote propaganda work to protect power grid corridors, especially during the rainy and stormy season and during the summer vacation.
