According to information from the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, the Lao Cai weightlifting team has just had a successful competition trip at the 2024 National Youth Weightlifting Championship, with 6 Gold Medals in various events and ranked 4th overall.
The 2024 National Youth Weightlifting Championship takes place from June 17 to 22 in Long Xuyen city ( An Giang ), with the participation of nearly 200 athletes from 29 provinces, cities and industries across the country.
The tournament was organized by the Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation (Department of Physical Training and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of An Giang province. Athletes competed in 20 events.
Participating in the tournament with a team of 4 athletes, entering the competition with determination and confidence, Lao Cai is considered one of the "heavyweight" teams of the tournament. The athletes compete in the male and female categories in the weight categories.
As a result, the Lao Cai delegation won 6 Gold Medals, including: Hoang Kim Lua (competing in the women's 64 kg weight class) won 3 Gold Medals in the snatch, clean and jerk and total; Ha Thi Xien (competing in the women's 59 kg weight class) won 3 Gold Medals in the snatch, clean and jerk and total.
In particular, Hoang Kim Lua excellently broke 2 records in the 64 kg weight class at the tournament with a clean and jerk of 105 kg and a total of 188 kg.
With excellent results, Lao Cai team ranked fourth overall.
