In recent days, many gardeners in the Central region have been transporting large quantities of yellow apricot trees, bonsai, flowers... worth billions of dong to the Da Nang spring flower market at Tien Son Sports Palace (Hai Chau district) to display or sell.
The "masterpieces" have quickly attracted visitors to come and enjoy. The Da Nang Tet Flower Market 2024 will be held from January 31 to the night of February 9 (21 to 30 of the 12th lunar month).
The market is divided into 267 lots for organizations and individuals inside and outside the city to display and trade flowers for the Lunar New Year.
What attracts the most attention from locals and tourists coming to the Da Nang spring flower market is the series of "old apricot blossoms" brought by Mr. Truong Hoai Phong (38 years old, living in Gia Lai ) to display, sell or rent.
Mr. Phong said that the first pair of mai trees is over 100 years old. This is a pink mai tree that resembles a chrysanthemum, so the buds are large and even, and the flowers only bloom once a year.
These two trees have a five-trunk, five-blessing apricot tree, similar to the village banyan tree. The tree trunk is 3-4m high and covered with green moss. Compared to last year, the apricot tree trunk has grown 1-2cm more, creating a closed canopy so it will bloom beautifully.
The base of the pink mai tree has 5 trunks, the circumference of the trunk is about 1.2m, the roots also develop strongly, growing another trunk. This year, Mr. Phong had to transplant the "old mai" into a larger pot before moving it to Da Nang for display.
The selling price of the "old plum tree" with 5 stems and 5 blessings is 3 billion VND, the rental price for Tet decoration is 100 million VND.
According to Mr. Phong, his target customers this year are those who are not much affected economically, and he does not focus on low-priced products.
Mr. Phong’s third apricot tree is a green apricot variety, which has just started to bud and is for sale for 3 billion VND, or for rent for 120 million VND. This green apricot tree has the shape of a Buddha’s hand and is over 150 years old. The apricot blossoms are greenish-white and have a pleasant fragrance.
This apricot tree has been brought to Da Nang for sale for about 10 years now but has never been sold. 7 years ago, someone offered to pay the price of a plot of land in Da Nang but he did not agree.
The owner of the mai tree revealed that he mainly brought this mai tree down to display. But if someone pays the right price, he will sell it.
Not only Mr. Phong's mai tree, Mr. Nguyen Van Re (56 years old, living in Dien Ban, Quang Nam) also displayed a mai tree that is over 100 years old, priced at 2 billion VND.
An employee here said that the apricot tree is of the thanh mai variety and was rented by a business to display for Tet for 100 million VND.
