Comrade Tran Phu, born on May 1, 1904, came from a poor patriotic Confucian family in An Dan commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province; his hometown was Tung Anh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province. The Central region, rich in cultural and revolutionary traditions, along with family traditions, nurtured a steadfast and indomitable communist soldier.
The turning point in the revolutionary life of comrade Tran Phu was when he was sent by the Phuc Viet Association to Guangzhou, China to contact the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, met leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, was directly trained by him, and admitted into the Communist Youth Union - the core group of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association.
In October 1930, the first conference of the Party Central Committee held in Hong Kong, China approved the Political Platform. The October 1930 Central Conference officially elected comrade Tran Phu as the first General Secretary of the Party.
As General Secretary, Comrade Tran Phu made many great political, ideological and organizational contributions to Party building work.
While our people's movement was developing strongly, on April 18, 1931, comrade Tran Phu was captured by the enemy. After 3 months of imprisonment and torture, on September 6, 1931, comrade Tran Phu breathed his last at Cho Quan Hospital, Saigon, at the age of 27 - an age full of enthusiasm and talent.
Following the example of the first General Secretary of the Party and previous revolutionary leaders, our country has achieved great and historic achievements.
