In her commemorative speech, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ho Thi Hoang Yen emphasized: To have a peaceful life like today, our ancestors had to pay with their bones and blood. For Ben Tre, the loss and pain were immense. Of more than 70 thousand children who went to war, more than 35 thousand people heroically sacrificed; over 15 thousand people became wounded and sick soldiers; nearly 20 thousand people were arrested, tortured, imprisoned, beaten to the point of disability, many families had 5-7 people killed by the enemy at the same time; more than 30 thousand people were infected with Agent Orange, the consequences lasting for many generations.
After 50 years since liberation, from a land that suffered much pain from war, Ben Tre has creatively applied and promoted the tradition of the Dong Khoi uprising in 1960, through many policies, resolutions, and revolutionary action programs.
Notably, the emulation movement "New Dong Khoi" has connected into a continuous flow between the past, present and future, gradually bringing the province to rise strongly and achieve many important achievements in all fields. The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the Liberation Day of Ben Tre province (May 1, 1975 - May 1, 2025) is not only an occasion to pay tribute to the great contributions of the working class and laborers around the world, but also an opportunity for us to honor the noble values of the spirit of creative labor and innovation in the development of the country and homeland.
