The role of Mùi in director Victor Vũ's film "Detective Kiên - The Headless Case" is Tín Nguyễn's second film role, following her impressive portrayal of Tư Thắm in director Lý Hải's hit film "Lật Mặt 7: Một Điều Ước" (Face Off 7: One Wish). With her versatility and relentless effort, Tín Nguyễn is gradually showing audiences her progress through each role she takes on.
Sharing his thoughts on the role of Mùi – a gentle, submissive girl from the lower class of feudal society – Tín Nguyễn said: "Mùi is my first period drama role, and also a big challenge because Mùi's personality is completely opposite to my real-life personality. While I am talkative and energetic in real life, Mùi is quiet, reserved, and very shy."
"Mui loves and protects Dong - the only person who empathizes with her fate. This is similar to Tin in real life, always cherishing those who have helped him," she added.
To embody the role of Mùi in the film, Tín Nguyễn meticulously prepared both psychologically and physically. According to Tín Nguyễn, director Victor Vũ was very meticulous, demanding high standards in every small detail such as eye contact, gait, and hand and foot movements – elements that had to be portrayed as closely as possible to the historical setting.
As for her appearance, Tin Nguyen had to practice walking with a hunched back to match the character's look. Throughout the filming process, the actress, born in 1997, did not use any skincare products, keeping her skin natural. In addition, the makeup team also helped create a makeup look that made her skin appear darker, suitable for the character's living conditions and personality.
Speaking about director Victor Vũ, Tín Nguyễn feels fortunate to have been involved in the "Detective Kiên: The Headless Case" project, especially to have worked with the talented director. She said that director Victor Vũ is extremely meticulous from the pre-production stage, so everything went quite quickly and smoothly on set.
In addition, the director always listens to and understands the actors' feedback, finding common ground to best portray the characters' personalities.
Notably, Tin Nguyen is simultaneously involved in two film projects set to be released on April 30th: "Detective Kien: The Headless Case" (Victor Vu) and "Face Off 8: The Embrace of the Sun" (Ly Hai).
"Tin Nguyen is fortunate to be part of a vibrant film season where Vietnamese audiences can enjoy many quality works from the domestic film industry. With each role, Tin Nguyen always tries his best to convey the emotions and messages that the film wants to send," Tin Nguyen shared.
