According to information from the Vietnamese Paralympic delegation, the 12th ASEAN PARA Games Organizing Committee has tightened regulations on injury classification and competition content, specifically from more than 300 competition events for athletics and swimming initially, now there are only more than 100 competition events for each event. This affects the number of athletes not only from Vietnam (reduced by 5 athletes including Ha Thi Hue, Nguyen Thi Mai, Vo Van Tung, Truong Bich Van, Vuong Chau) but also from many other delegations. However, the principle of "at least 4 athletes from 3 countries" to organize the competition content is also a way to improve the quality of the regional Paralympic Games.

According to Mr. Huynh Vinh Ai, President of the Vietnam Paralympic Association, the Vietnamese Paralympic delegation sent only the 6th largest number of participants (after Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, and the Philippines), but the success of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the recent 32nd SEA Games requires the Paralympic delegation to make efforts to achieve the best results.
