Plan to collect entrance fee to Da Lat station

On the afternoon of July 11, Vietnam Railway Corporation coordinated with functional units of Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province to organize a ceremony to announce that Da Lat Station was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a tourist destination with the name "Da Lat Railway Station".

Da Lat Railway Station is considered the most beautiful railway station in Vietnam.

According to Vietnam Railways Corporation, the number of visitors to Da Lat station in the first 6 months of 2024 was more than 275 thousand; the number of visitors traveling by train from Da Lat to Trai Mat was more than 138 thousand. Total revenue from tourism activities was nearly 11.5 billion VND.

According to the decision of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, Vietnam Railway Corporation is responsible for fully complying with the provisions of the Law on Tourism and related legal regulations in the process of managing and exploiting tourism business at the tourist destination "Da Lat Railway Station".

According to Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation, being recognized as an official tourist destination puts Da Lat station on the national tourism map.

To exploit the tourism potential of Da Lat station, Vietnam Railways Corporation will hire a consulting unit to develop a master plan for infrastructure investment to serve tourists at Da Lat station.

Develop a project to collect entrance fees for the tourist site “Da Lat Railway Station” and a service price plan to submit to competent authorities for approval. Expected to be completed in September 2024, implementing the collection of entrance fees at the new price from October 1, 2024.

Da Lat Railway Station at 1 Quang Trung, Ward 10, Da Lat City is a famous tourist attraction of Lam Dong province, attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists every day.

Da Lat Station is the starting point on the Lam Dong side of the 84 km long Thap Cham - Da Lat cog railway connecting Lam Dong with Ninh Thuan, one of two cog railways built in the world (the remaining cog railway is in Switzerland).

Dalat Railway Station was built from 1932 to 1938 at an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level and is considered the most beautiful railway station in Vietnam.

The Da Lat – Trai Mat tourist train route serves tourists at night.

At the station, in addition to visiting the architecture of Da Lat station and the steam locomotive, Vietnam Railways Corporation is operating the Da Lat - Trai Mat tourist railway. The train line is about 7 km long, serving tourists to admire the beautiful scenery and some famous places of the city.

In April 2023, the Stadler Group (Switzerland) expressed its desire to participate in the Thap Cham – Da Lat railway restoration project. The reconstruction of this railway line requires new rack and pinion cars, for which Stadler is one of the market leaders.

Also in this year, Bach Dang Hotel Trading and Service Joint Stock Company submitted to the Ministry of Transport a pre-feasibility study report on the project to restore the Thap Cham - Da Lat railway line under the public-private partnership (PPP) method with a total investment of VND24,920 billion.
