On the afternoon of April 25, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , in response to a reporter's question asking about Vietnam's reaction to China's fishing ban in the East Sea, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: Vietnam's stance on China's fishing ban in the East Sea is consistent and has been clearly affirmed over the years.
China's fishing ban not only violates Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago but also violates Vietnam's sovereign rights and jurisdiction over its exclusive economic zone as determined by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Vietnam demands that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago and its sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction over Vietnam's maritime zones, not further complicate the situation, and contribute to maintaining peace, stability and order in the East Sea region.
