U.23 Vietnam: Hard-fought victory

On the evening of July 22, the U.23 Vietnam team defeated U.23 Cambodia 2-1, with center back Pham Ly Duc opening the score from a pass from captain Khuat Van Khang before Thanh Dat crossed the ball for Dinh Bac to score, ending the group stage with the top spot in Group B, while the U.23 Cambodia team ranked second in Group B with only 1 point.

In the match at the same time, the U.23 Thailand team also won the first place in Group C despite being held to a 0-0 draw by U.23 Myanmar. Playing aggressively but not being able to score in the second half caused U.23 Myanmar to finish second in Group C with 2 points.

In Group A, besides the group winner U.23 Indonesia, with 3 points (excluding the result with the 4th ranked team U.23 Brunei), the U.23 Philippines team became the best second placed team, thereby winning the last ticket to the semi-finals.

With the best second place in Group A, the U.23 Vietnam team avoids the prospect of facing the first team in Group A or C. Therefore, the first semi-final match will take place between the U.23 Vietnam team and the best second place in Group A, U.23 Philippines, at 4:00 p.m. on July 25.

This is considered the easiest bracket for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team among the possible outcomes in the semi-finals, while U.23 Thailand and U.23 Indonesia must do their best to eliminate each other in the remaining semi-final match at 8:00 p.m. on July 25.

But all the advantages are only for reference before the ball rolls. The difficult match against U.23 Cambodia will make coach Kim Sang-sik and his team not allowed to be careless, must concentrate to the maximum to defeat U.23 Philippines who beat U.23 Malaysia 2-0, only narrowly losing to U.23 Indonesia 0-1 due to an own goal.

Winning against U.23 Cambodia with difficulty, fans worry about coach Kim Sang-sik and his team
