A few days ago, the 2025 AVC Nations Cup Women's Volleyball Tournament ended with the championship for the Vietnamese team. Immediately, the men's tournament entered the competition in Bahrain.
On June 17, the tournament will have 4 matches in groups A, C and D. At 6pm, the opening match will be between Pakistan and the Philippines. Pakistan is a team with quite good strength in the AVC Nations Cup.
Last year, Pakistan defeated the Vietnamese men’s volleyball team 3-2 in the quarterfinals after a controversial refereeing decision. They then went all the way to the finals and finished as runners-up. Pakistan will certainly be a big challenge for the Philippines.
At 8:30 p.m. in Group D, Korea and New Zealand faced each other. These are the two opponents in the same group with the Vietnamese men's volleyball team.
South Korea is currently ranked 27th in the world while New Zealand is unranked. This shows that South Korea is at a higher level than its opponents. However, this is also an advantage for New Zealand because they are an unknown quantity in the tournament.
At 11pm, the match between host Bahrain and Thailand will take place. By winning the right to host the AVC Nations Cup, Bahrain has shown its determination to go far in the tournament. Last year, they finished in 6th place while Thailand finished 9th overall. However, currently on the world rankings, the Southeast Asian representative is the team ranked higher (ranked 63rd and 65th).
On June 17, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team did not compete. In addition, since Group B only has two teams, Qatar and Australia, the only match in this group will only take place on June 19.
